The Senior Maintenance Mechanic completes light maintenance, repair, and cleaning tasks safely and professionally, taking extra precautions in patient and resident care areas and keeping tools out of children's reach. The role requires advanced mechanical knowledge and the ability to use hand tools, meters, measuring devices, and gauges, as well as work from blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals. The mechanic completes advanced tasks independently with minimal supervision, evaluates building and equipment repairs, and troubleshoots and explains conditions accurately. The role also provides staff support and assists management with department personnel and operations, while helping ensure work quality, safety, morale, and efficiency. Depending on facility needs, duties may include boiler operations; installation and maintenance of mechanical and stationary systems; grounds and outside maintenance; and general electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, HVAC, and bed repair work. On-call duties may be required as needed or directed. The position is part-time, scheduled for 12 hours per week, either two six-hour days or four three-hour days, on the day shift. A boiler license must be held or obtained.
