About The Position

This is a float position, and the successful incumbent will work with clients in busy DOH clinics, while working within the scope of Florida State and Federal Guidelines and DOH- Pinellas policies and procedures. Applicants must be willing to travel to five different clinic locations in Pinellas County.

Requirements

  • Current active Florida nursing license or a multistate license from another compact state per The Florida Nurse Practice Act, as outlined in Chapter 464
  • Current valid Florida Driver’s License or able to obtain one within 30 days of employment
  • Access to private transportation and willing to travel to other locations and provide coverage as needed
  • At least 1 year EMR experience
  • Knowledge of nursing and public health principles, practices & techniques.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate work assignments
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing, utilizing approved DOH abbreviations when documenting in the electronic medical record
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others
  • Ability to operate a personal computer and accompanying software programs
  • Ability to safely administer medications and immunizations within scope of nursing licensure
  • Ability to work with persons of a different race, language, culture, or socioeconomic status
  • Ability to make sound nursing judgments independently
  • Ability to adapt to necessary changes in duties, duty station, or work hours for the benefit of the agency
  • Ability to deal effectively with customers of various types of backgrounds and cultures.
  • Ability to learn and maintain proficiency of computer skills & new programs required by Medical and Clinical Services divisions
  • Skills in one-on-one interviewing; ability to maintain accurate and appropriate medical documentation in EMR system

Nice To Haves

  • 1 year experience working in a fast-paced medical office.
  • Six months’ experience working in a Primary Care clinic
  • Six months’ experience giving adult and children’s immunizations
  • At least 1 year experience working as an LPN

Responsibilities

  • Adult and children’s immunizations
  • Obtain patient medical history and vital signs
  • Case Management
  • Administer medication ordered by the provider
  • Educates and provide information regarding family planning, STD screening and treatment services
  • Respond with other clinical staff to emergency situations that occur in clinic
  • Work with clinic manager to assure efficient clinic flow
  • Utilize an EMR to document client visits
  • Perform EKG’s, Spirometry, and other medical office tests
  • Performs other duties as required
  • Keeps supervisor informed
  • Attends staff meetings as required
  • Attends training for personal and professional growth
  • Meets annual training requirements
