About The Position

The University Libraries at the University of Nevada, Reno is seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused Senior Library Assistant to support Access Services operations within the Circulation unit. This position does not provide layoff rights and is contingent upon funding. This position provides advanced support for circulation and access services, ensuring timely and accurate access to library materials and resources. The Senior Library Assistant plays a key role in coordinating physical course reserves, delivering frontline user services, and supporting efficient request fulfillment workflows. Additional responsibilities include maintaining library materials and equipment, supporting Access Services technologies, and contributing to accurate records and reporting.

Requirements

  • One (1) or more years of applicable experience as described in the job duties
  • Graduation from high school or equivalent education
  • Ability to apply established policies and procedures
  • Exercise sound judgment
  • Work independently in a service-oriented academic environment

Responsibilities

  • Provide advanced support in circulation, access services, course reserves, and related library service areas
  • Assist users by evaluating information needs, providing instruction, and supporting effective resource use
  • Verify accuracy and completeness of bibliographic and circulation data; make necessary corrections and updates
  • Perform copy cataloging to support electronic access to bibliographic records
  • Prepare materials for shelving, maintain collection order, and support binding activities
  • Process ordering and receiving of routine materials, including invoice verification and record maintenance
  • Manage print and physical course reserves, including processing materials, issuing notices, and assessing fines as appropriate
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and perform minor repairs on library equipment and technology
  • Collect, maintain, and report circulation and access services statistics
