About The Position

We are seeking an experienced Senior Legal Assistant to provide full litigation support. The ideal candidate will enjoy joining a high-volume, paperless environment that is both dynamic and rewarding. Our collaborative, team-oriented nine-member legal team is passionate about insurance defense. This position is remote but supports our Seattle, Washington office, which handles cases in Washington, Oregon, and Idaho. Applicants must reside within this region to provide appropriate support and maintain familiarity with local jurisdictions.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience as a Legal Assistant within a paperless insurance defense law firm or corporate legal department
  • Experience in a high-volume litigation environment, including document production, discovery preparation, Outlook calendaring and scheduling, and client data maintenance
  • Familiarity with or ability to work with AI tools and systems to enhance productivity and workflow efficiency
  • Strong working knowledge of applicable court systems and resourcefulness in researching court rules
  • Excellent multitasking, organizational, and time management skills
  • Proficiency with case management software
  • Strong familiarity with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, OneNote, Teams, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to meet productivity targets in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Exceptional organizational skills, especially in prioritizing work across multiple attorneys
  • Ability to manipulate electronic documents such as PDF, TIF, and JPG formats

Nice To Haves

  • Tort, construction defect, and subrogation experience strongly preferred
  • Trial preparation experience is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Utilize appropriate software to timely prepare, e-file, and serve (as appropriate) correspondence, briefs, motions, pleadings, discovery, deposition notices, and other documents required by Washington, Oregon, and Idaho state courts, and sometimes federal court systems
  • Maintain and manage attorney calendars, including scheduling deadlines, court dates, and depositions, using Outlook calendaring tools
  • Assist attorneys as needed in preparation for trial
  • Provide extensive scheduling and calendar coordination, including depositions and client meetings
  • Review electronic mail daily and respond or route as appropriate
  • Maintain electronic legal files in a paperless environment
  • Process invoices for payment
  • Leverage AI tools and systems, where applicable, to support document drafting, organization, and workflow efficiency
  • Demonstrate professional diplomacy in all interactions with clients, opposing counsel, attorneys, teammates, claim partners, and court personnel
  • Assist in overall office support as needed, including case matching, mail handling, electronic filing, PDF creation and compilation, file conversion, and related tasks
