About The Position

The School of Education and Tertiary Access (SETA) is seeking a Senior Lecturer in Education to join their dynamic community. This role involves providing academic leadership in teaching, curriculum development, research, and engagement activities. The successful candidate will contribute to the delivery and coordination of programs across face-to-face and online learning environments, fostering collaboration, mentoring, and innovation. The position aims to shape the future of teacher education through evidence-informed practice, impactful research, and strong partnerships with the education sector, ultimately influencing student success and advancing research excellence.

Requirements

  • Completion of a doctoral qualification in a relevant field or equivalent accreditation and standing.
  • Effectiveness as a teacher, evidenced by student feedback, peer reviews, student outcomes, and the capacity to conceive, develop and deliver higher education curricula.
  • A sound and established track record of research activity, including refereed publications, participation in research teams funded by external competitive grants, quality supervision of higher degree research candidates, and research impact.
  • Sound leadership contributions and personal qualities that influence the development and maintenance of a positive academic environment.
  • Participation and success in academic administrative functions (e.g., program coordination) within a University.
  • Membership of and sound connections with relevant professional bodies and community groups and/or in professional practice.
  • Evidence of regular participation in academic development activities and the desire to continue to learn and improve as an effective academic.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate courses and programs, ensuring exceptional student learning experiences across a range of delivery modes.
  • Design, develop and continuously enhance contemporary curriculum and learning experiences informed by educational research and industry practice.
  • Deliver engaging teaching that supports student achievement, retention and graduate success.
  • Build and maintain an active research profile through publications, collaborative projects and higher degree research supervision.
  • Contribute to research funding opportunities and strengthen the School's research impact through productive partnerships.
  • Foster strong relationships with schools, professional bodies, industry partners and community stakeholders.
  • Provide academic leadership, mentor colleagues and contribute to a positive, inclusive and high-performing academic culture.
  • Support School, Faculty and University initiatives through governance, service and strategic contribution.
