About The Position

Benedictine University is seeking an Adjunct Lecturer for its General Education program. This part-time, non-benefit eligible position involves teaching interdisciplinary seminar (IDS) courses. While there's an opportunity for regular teaching in 2027 and beyond, there is an immediate need for an instructor to teach two sections of IDS 2201: Catholic and Benedictine Intellectual Traditions in Fall 2026. Instructors for IDS courses come from diverse liberal arts backgrounds such as Theology, History, Philosophy, Literature, Writing, and Communication.

Requirements

  • Doctoral or Master’s degree and experience in a relevant area.
  • Ability to talk or hear.
  • Ability to frequently stand; walk; use hands to touch, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
  • Ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds.
  • Ability to use a computer screen and phone.
  • Ability to provide customer service.
  • Ability to bend or sit for long periods of time.
  • Specific vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • Compliance with campus specific guidelines for pandemic protocols.
  • Completion of all University-specific and/or OSHA related training.
  • Verification of identity and eligibility to work in the United States.
  • Completion of the required employment eligibility verification document form upon hire.

Responsibilities

  • Teach interdisciplinary seminar (IDS) courses for the university's general education program.
  • Instruct two sections of IDS 2201: Catholic and Benedictine Intellectual Traditions in Fall 2026.
  • Complete all University-specific and/or OSHA related training.
