About The Position

BAE is seeking an innovative and results driven Senior Laser Seal Engineer to lead the optimization, processes and operation of precision laser seal systems designed to produce hermetic seals. You will serve as the subject matter expert, bridging the gap between engineering, product integration and stable, high yield manufacturing. This is a first shift position working a 9/80 schedule with every other Friday off!

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred OR 4+ years of experience in a precision manufacturing environment, preferably involving laser welding, electronics assembly, or semiconductor packaging.
  • Proven ability to operate laser equipment and environmental test chambers.
  • Adaptability: Ability to maintain high quality and accuracy while working in a fast-paced, production-driven environment.
  • 6+ years of direct experience in laser welding, brazing, or hermetic sealing within a high-tech manufacturing or R&D environment.
  • Familiarity with strict quality and environmental standards such as MIL-STD-883, MIL-PRF-38534, ISO 9001, and AS9100.
  • Hands-on experience with solid-state, fiber, or diode lasers.
  • Strong understanding of light-material interactions and metallurgy of hermetic seals.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and optical simulation tools.
  • Demonstrated mastery of Design of Experiments (DOE), root cause analysis, and Statistical Process Control (SPC).

Responsibilities

  • Set up, calibrate and operate precision laser welders to establish hermetic seals.
  • Design, optimize and scale laser welding and sealing processes for microwave submodule application.
  • Plan and execute structured experiments (DOE) to establish process windows and characterize laser material interactions.
  • Utilize analytical methods, root cause analysis and statistical process control (SPC) to endure yield targets and stringent seal integrity are met.
  • Ability to execute environmental stress screening (ESS) includes thermal cycling and vibration testing.
  • Perform precise machine de-lidding for inspection and rework.
  • Serve as a technical liaison with design, test, quality, reliability and program engineering to meet production goals.
  • Document technical work, manage intellectual property and mentor junior engineers on laser safety and operational best practices.
