Chemours is seeking a Laboratory Technician to join our growing Advanced Performance Materials team! This position will report directly to the Global Technology Manager, TeflonTM PTFE at our Newark, DE location. This key role is responsible for operation of the battery laboratory equipment and materials processing.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • 1 - 2 years of laboratory experience preferably in chemistry
  • Fine motor skills to perform small, delicate & detailed tasks
  • Excellent record keeping and notebook skills are required
  • Ability to read and understand complex Standard Operating Procedures
  • Self-motivation, able to work independently to complete given tasks
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications with a focus on data entry, such as Word, Excel, SharePoint
  • Ability to wear an air-line respirator, work in close quarters, and climb ladders/steps donned in full PPE
  • Ability to lift 45 lbs. and move drums/containers using correct ergonomic methods
  • Ability to perform duties that may require long periods of standing

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with using glove box, electrochemical devices
  • Associates degree or higher in electrochemistry or chemistry, or 3+ years related industrial experience

Responsibilities

  • Lab and pilot scale operation of handling, weighing, mixing, and processing of various chemicals.
  • Perform activities including assembling, monitoring & basic analysis of electrochemical devices such as lithium ion battery cells
  • Safe execution of lab work of wet chemistry experiments using corrosive, toxic, and flammable chemicals.
  • Documenting and auditing specific operating, safety, and environmental requirements.
  • Troubleshooting mechanical processes, controls, analytical, or laboratory issues.
