About The Position
This position is responsible for various day-to-day tasks in the laboratory including working with avian blood or other tissues poultry house and hatchery environmental samples including fecal feathers and dust. The successful candidate(s) must be willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.
Requirements
- Bachelors Degree in Science or two years technical training in a laboratory-related position
- 2 plus years of related experience
- Intermediate skills with Microsoft Office and other web-based programs
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Must sign an agreement to avoid any avian species chickens ducks birds
- The Company Animal Welfare Policy must be followed at all times
- Must use safe lifting techniques
- While handling samples nitrile gloves must be worn
- The team member may be exposed to standard laboratory chemicals
Nice To Haves
- When visiting biosecure environments showering before entering the facilities is required. The lab jobsite may require showering when leaving the facility.
- Appropriate clothing and footwear is provided by the Company.
- No jewelry may be worn on the jobsites except for medical ID jewelry.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrated proficiency in sample preparation log in processing and documentation of test results
- Ability to assist with the training of other team members
- Ability to evaluate a situation quickly and react accordingly
- Proactive communication with peers supervisors and customers
- Demonstrated ability to complete projects aimed to improve the laboratory
