About The Position

Medavie is maturing its information technology procurement practice and is seeking an IT Procurement Specialist who is passionate about enterprise technology strategic sourcing and procurement activities. The work aligns procurement activities with business objectives, technology roadmaps, and organizational priorities to deliver measurable business value. The successful candidate will approach procurement as a strategic capability that enables business success through effective partnerships, efficient processes, and value-driven decision making. The IT Procurement Specialist works closely with internal and external partners to advise, manage procurement pathways, ensure appropriate commercial conditions, and make purchases that balance value, risk, and speed. This role requires a customer-centric approach with a skillset in strategic sourcing, negotiation, market research, cost-effective deals, contract optimization, supplier management, stakeholder engagement, and continuous improvement. Our IT Procurement team is evolving; we're looking for another team member who embraces continuous improvement, brings fresh perspectives, and is excited to contribute to the advancement of our procurement capabilities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in IT procurement and supplier management, with a proven track record of managing complex IT procurements
  • Strong experience leading complex procurement processes and managing multiple priorities
  • Commercial acumen, negotiation skills, and communication skills
  • Expertise in spend analysis, demand management, and sourcing strategies
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Proficiency in procurement methodologies, software and tools
  • Knowledge of IT products and services
  • Expertise in legal and regulatory requirements
  • Strong customer-service and relationship management skills
  • Demonstrated continuous improvement mindset (process, procurement methodologies, operating model) and ability to lead change initiatives
  • Experience developing procurement policies, playbooks, or training material
  • Excellent coordination and organizational skills
  • English, written and spoken required.
  • Must have Reliability Status Clearance (Enhanced Level B), which includes Fingerprinting, Criminal Record Check, Credit Check.
  • Must have resided in Canada for at least 5 years.
  • Must hold Permanent Resident or Citizenship Status.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification in procurement or supply chain management (PMAC/SCMP/ISM/CTPE)
  • French, written and spoken would be considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Manage IT Procurement Activities: Coordinate the procurement and renewal of IT hardware, software, and services while ensuring compliance and supporting business objectives.
  • Support Supplier Management: Build and maintain supplier relationships, monitor performance, contribute to contract negotiations, and help drive improvements in value, quality, innovation, and risk management.
  • Identify Cost Optimization Opportunities: Analyze spending and support initiatives that improve commercial outcomes through contract optimization, standardization, consolidation, and demand management.
  • Collaborate with Stakeholders: Partner with IT, Legal, Finance, and business teams to provide procurement guidance and support throughout the procurement lifecycle.
  • Enhance Processes and Tools: Identify opportunities to streamline, standardize, and automate procurement processes while maintaining documentation, templates, training materials, and playbooks.
  • Leverage Market Insights & AI: Stay informed on industry trends, supplier markets, emerging technologies, and AI-enabled tools to support informed decision-making, operational efficiency, and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure Compliance: Help ensure procurement activities comply with legal, regulatory, and organizational requirements.
