Peraton is seeking a highly skilled Senior IT Manager to oversee the operations, strategy, and continuous improvement of a hybrid IT infrastructure supporting Linux, Mac, and Windows platforms. This role combines hands-on technical expertise with strategic leadership to ensure our IT systems and teams meet operational and organizational goals. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. 4 years of additional experience will be considered in lieu of degree.
  • A minimum of 12 years of IT experience with at least 5 years in a leadership role, managing hybrid or multi-platform environments.
  • Strong proficiency with Linux (e.g., Red Hat, Ubuntu, CentOS), Mac OS, and Windows operating systems.
  • Experience in systems administration, network management, and IT security practices.
  • Hands-on knowledge of virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V) and cloud services (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor IT teams, fostering a collaborative and results-driven culture.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proven project management experience, with the ability to manage competing priorities effectively.
  • Ability to obtain a TS/SCI

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in IT-related disciplines or business administration.
  • Certification in Linux, Windows, Mac, or IT leadership (e.g., Red Hat Certified Engineer, MCSE, or ITIL certification).
  • Experience supporting classified or secure environments.
  • Knowledge of DevOps practices and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Familiarity with automation tools such as Ansible, Puppet, or Chef

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a diverse IT team responsible for maintaining a hybrid environment of Linux, Mac, and Windows platforms.
  • Develop and execute strategic plans for IT systems, operations, and processes aligned with organizational goals.
  • Oversee the installation, configuration, and maintenance of operating systems, software, and hardware across platforms.
  • Implement and enforce IT security policies, ensuring compliance with industry standards and organizational requirements.
  • Act as a technical escalation point, providing hands-on support for complex IT issues across the environment.
  • Manage and optimize system and network performance, ensuring reliability and scalability.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders, providing regular updates on IT performance, challenges, and strategic initiatives.
  • Oversee vendor relationships, contract negotiations, and procurement for IT services and hardware/software.
  • Foster a culture of innovation and collaboration, mentoring and empowering team members to grow and excel in their roles.
