Senior IT Asset Manager

IonQBothell, WA
Onsite

About The Position

IonQ is seeking a strategic, analytical, and hands-on IT Asset Manager to take full ownership of the lifecycle, financial health, and regulatory compliance of its global IT asset portfolio. This role bridges the gap between IT operations, finance, and legal compliance, responsible for defining and executing asset management strategies to optimize technology spend, mitigate contract risks, track physical and logical inventory, and ensure alignment with security policies and audit guidelines. While focused on governance, compliance, and strategy, the role requires a collaborative, hands-on approach, including direct management of critical lifecycle logistics and providing basic IT helpdesk troubleshooting.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in IT Asset Management (ITAM), Software Asset Management (SAM), IT procurement, or IT contract governance, with a proven track record of handling multi-site corporate environments.
  • Strong experience managing IT vendor contracts, negotiating software renewals, managing vendor relations, and building data-driven cost-optimization strategies.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle highly confidential compliance procedures, legal hold logistics, and precise chain-of-custody documentation.
  • Sound hands-on understanding of enterprise IT hardware, standard client operating systems (macOS and Windows), and core SaaS ecosystems.
  • Proficiency with formal ITAM, SAM, or ITSM software (e.g., ServiceNow, Snipe-IT, Jira Service Desk, Flexera, or Freshservice).
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills; ability to collaborate fluidly with Corporate Legal, Finance, internal InfoSec leads, and external software auditors.

Nice To Haves

  • Professional certifications such as IAITAM Certified IT Asset Manager (CITAM), Certified Hardware Asset Management Professional (CHAMP), or Certified Software Asset Management (CSAM).
  • Experience in highly regulated or high-security sectors (e.g., Aerospace, Defense, or Technology) adhering to NIST SP 800-171, CMMC, or SOC2 frameworks.
  • Experience navigating the transition from traditional on-premise infrastructure to identity-driven cloud environments.

Responsibilities

  • Establish, maintain, and enforce comprehensive policies, standards, and procedures for the end-to-end lifecycle of corporate hardware and software assets.
  • Analyze technology spend patterns, software utilization, and hardware lifecycles to identify cost-saving opportunities and partner with Finance and IT leadership for budget forecasting and vendor invoicing reconciliation.
  • Oversee software license compliance, entitlements, and SaaS subscriptions, auditing usage metrics to proactively harvest underutilized licenses and mitigate non-compliance risks.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for internal and external IT asset audits (e.g., software publisher audits, SOC2 Type II, CMMC), ensuring corporate asset data is accurate, auditable, and continuously compliant.
  • Strictly manage and enforce Corporate Legal and Security protocols regarding hardware on active legal holds, safely isolating, logging, and preserving restricted hardware with a documented chain of custody.
  • Supervise and execute the physical and logical lifecycle of assets, including purchasing, receiving, tagging, deployment, harvesting upon employee offboarding, and secure data destruction/disposal.
  • Manage relationships, procurement logistics, and lease frameworks with hardware and software vendors, maintaining a contract renewal calendar to prevent operational lapses or cost escalation.

Benefits

  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision plans
  • Matching 401(k)
  • Unlimited PTO
  • Paid holidays
  • Parental/adoption leave
  • Legal insurance
  • Home technology stipend
