About The Position

Cushing Terrell is seeking a Senior Internal Communications Manager to lead internal communications across its 17 offices. This role reports to the Chief People Officer and is a senior individual contributor position with firm-wide influence. The manager will act as a trusted advisor to firm leaders on employee communications, culture, and change management. The day-to-day responsibilities involve a blend of writing, editing, and advising. This includes drafting leadership messages, town hall talking points, planning communications for new teams joining the firm, updating intranet content, and collaborating with the People team on announcements. The role also involves partnering with the Director of External Communications to ensure a consistent brand voice and creating recruitment marketing content to attract strong candidates.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, English, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in internal, corporate, or employee communications
  • Experience advising senior leaders and developing executive communications, including writing on their behalf and influencing without direct authority
  • Demonstrated experience leading employee communications through significant organizational change, such as rapid growth or integrating new teams
  • Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills, with sound judgment and discretion when handling confidential information
  • Experience managing internal communication channels and applying brand voice and visual standards, using tools such as an intranet, SharePoint, Microsoft Teams, and Adobe Creative Suite
  • Strong project and program management skills, with the ability to manage multiple concurrent priorities
  • Must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the firm-wide internal communications strategy and editorial calendar, aligning messaging with firm priorities across all offices
  • Plan, write, edit, and distribute firm-wide announcements, campaigns, and employee stories that reinforce Cushing Terrell's mission, values, and culture
  • Partner with firm leaders to develop executive messages, talking points, message cascades, town halls, and all-firm meeting communications
  • Build and maintain communication playbooks for firm growth and integration, covering announcement, welcome, day one, the first 100 days, and ongoing integration, while protecting confidential information
  • Advise the People team and firm leaders on internal communications, and coordinate employee-facing communications during emergencies with the Director, External Communications
  • Manage content, standards, templates, and governance across internal channels, including the intranet, email, Microsoft Teams, and video
  • Develop recruitment marketing content with the Talent Acquisition team and partner with the Director, External Communications to keep a consistent brand voice internally and externally
  • Measure communication reach, engagement, and effectiveness, manage the internal communications budget with the Chief People Officer, and recommend improvements to channels and tools, including AI-powered tools
