About The Position

The Senior Interior Designer leads design teams from concept through construction documentation and administration for multiple large or complex projects. The role establishes and carries forward the design vision, maintains design quality, and oversees project development and coordination across design and engineering disciplines. It serves as a client-facing design leader, building client relationships, leading design discussions and presentations, and representing the firm throughout project delivery. The position also contributes to business development through prospective client meetings, pursuits, presentations, networking, and relationship building, particularly in the designer’s local market. The role provides leadership and mentorship to Architectural and Interior Designers and supports collaboration, design quality, and project delivery. It is a full-time position supporting the Design Studio, working remotely while collaborating closely with the broader team; in-person presence is required as needed. The designer represents the Design Studio in their local market and supports projects across multiple markets as needed.

Requirements

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Interior Design.
10–15+ years of relevant professional experience.
Strong proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, 3DS Max/Rhino, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator), and MS Office.
Knowledge of relevant building codes and accessibility requirements.
Knowledge of building systems, standards, construction techniques, and building structures.
Proven ability to lead large and complex design projects and multidisciplinary project teams.
Demonstrated analytical thinking and creative problem-solving ability.

Nice To Haves

NCIDQ Certification preferred.
Pursuit of LEED, Fitwel, RELi, WELL Building Standard, or similar certification preferred.

Responsibilities

Develop and maintain strong client relationships that support long-term business development.
Support business development through networking, prospective client meetings, project pursuits, interviews, and industry events, with a focus on growth in the local market.
Collaborate with senior firm members, including Principals, on continuous improvement in design, documentation, project delivery, QA/QC, and other firm initiatives.
Contribute to a dynamic, creative, and collaborative firm environment and develop and implement innovative design solutions.
Attend Owner/Client project meetings and lead or participate in presentations and other project-related activities as required.
Represent the Design Studio as a design leader in the local market while maintaining alignment with Design leadership and project teams.
Support projects across multiple markets and collaborate with teams regardless of location.
Oversee space-planning concepts, conceptual design, and design development.
Oversee graphic presentations and communication of design concepts, and lead client design presentations.
Develop innovative solutions, lead large project teams, oversee project documentation, and coordinate with structural, MEP, lighting, AV, landscape, and civil consultants.
Oversee technical project aspects to ensure alignment with scope, design, budget, client goals, and core requirements.
Provide technical guidance and innovative solutions for complex technical and design challenges.
Work with Preconstruction and Delivery teams to preserve design concepts while supporting constructability and project budgets.
Represent the Design team during construction, including site visits and oversight of submittals, substitution requests, and RFIs.
Conduct relevant product research and develop specifications as required.
Assist in developing project schedules and resource loading.
Ensure project documentation complies with relevant zoning and building codes.
Interface with building and permitting officials during permitting and construction as required.
Adhere to company policies and guidelines.
Carry out legal and appropriate tasks requested in the company’s best interest.
Represent the firm professionally and consistently with its values and culture.
