Intuitive•Sunnyvale, CA
•$156,800 - $265,500•Onsite

About The Position

The Senior Visual/Interaction Designer, Ion Design System, will own the visual language and design system for Intuitive’s Ion products. The role defines, evolves, and protects the visual structure, hierarchy, components, layouts, and patterns used across Ion clinical workflows and product touchpoints, including the PlanPoint laptop and robotic experience. Working with Interaction Designers, Engineers, Product Managers, Clinical partners, and other stakeholders, the designer translates company design-system foundations into product-specific solutions for clinical environments, touchscreens, procedural workflows, and specialized interfaces. The role establishes reusable visual patterns and components, guides their use across product areas, and ensures designs are cohesive, accessible, technically feasible, and ready for implementation. It also identifies opportunities to extend or improve the design system based on Ion product needs. As a senior individual contributor, this person brings strong visual design judgment, influences design direction, resolves complex and ambiguous problems, and raises design quality and consistency across the team. They contribute to critiques, provide mentorship and feedback, and help establish a durable visual design practice for Ion. This is a full-time position based in Sunnyvale, California, with a set schedule and weekly onsite work; the percentage of onsite work is determined by the leader.
