About The Position

The Senior Integration Developer (API Platform) is responsible for designing, building, automating, and operating TBC's enterprise API platforms supporting the Unified Digital Platform (UDP) strategy. This role serves as a senior technical contributor responsible for API gateway engineering, platform automation, developer enablement, operational excellence, and API lifecycle management. The ideal candidate has deep hands-on expertise with Apigee, cloud-native architectures, API security, CI/CD automation, observability, and platform engineering. This role partners closely with Enterprise Architecture, Software Engineering, Infrastructure, Security, Cloud Engineering, and Product teams to deliver scalable, secure, and highly available API services that accelerate digital transformation initiatives across TBC. The position supports the broader API Platform Architect by implementing platform standards, reference architectures, and operational practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related discipline, or equivalent work experience
  • 7+ years of software engineering, integration engineering, or platform engineering experience
  • 3+ years hands-on API management platform experience with Apigee
  • Experience administering enterprise-grade API platforms
  • Strong experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code
  • Strong understanding of API security, OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, JWT, TLS, and certificate management
  • Experience supporting highly available production platforms
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Apigee, REST APIs, OpenAPI / Swagger, API Lifecycle Management, API Product Management, API Developer Portals

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain enterprise API platform capabilities utilizing Apigee.
  • Develop API proxies, shared flows, reusable policies, and reference integration patterns.
  • Implement API lifecycle management practices including versioning, deployment, documentation, and retirement.
  • Support adoption of API-first architecture principles across engineering teams.
  • Ensure platform scalability, resiliency, performance, and availability requirements are achieved.
  • Configure and manage Apigee organizations, environments, environment groups, and deployments.
  • Administer IAM, RBAC, service accounts, certificates, and platform security configurations.
  • Design and implement routing, traffic control, rate limiting, load balancing, and policy enforcement mechanisms.
  • Support gateway upgrades, platform maintenance, and operational governance requirements.
  • Troubleshoot production issues and drive root cause analysis activities.
  • Design and maintain Infrastructure-as-Code solutions supporting API platform operations.
  • Build and support CI/CD pipelines for API deployment and lifecycle automation.
  • Implement automated testing, validation, quality controls, and deployment workflows.
  • Collaborate with Cloud Engineering teams to ensure platform reliability and operational efficiency.
  • Promote platform portability and standards-based deployment practices.
  • Implement enterprise API security controls and standards.
  • Configure OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, JWT validation, encryption, and threat protection policies.
  • Manage certificate lifecycle and secure connectivity patterns.
  • Participate in Architecture Review Board (ARB) activities and architecture reviews.
  • Ensure compliance with enterprise security, audit, and governance requirements.
  • Implement monitoring, telemetry, alerting, and logging standards across the API platform.
  • Support observability solutions utilizing tools such as Grafana and OpenTelemetry.
  • Develop dashboards and operational metrics supporting platform health and business insights.
  • Monitor and improve SLA, SLO, reliability, and performance objectives.
  • Drive automation initiatives that reduce operational overhead and incident volume.
  • Support implementation and administration of API developer portal capabilities.
  • Enable self-service API onboarding and API discovery experiences.
  • Create standards, templates, and reusable artifacts for engineering teams.
  • Partner with application development teams to accelerate API adoption.
  • Support internal and external integration initiatives.
  • Other duties as assigned.
