About The Position

Observe by Snowflake is an AI-powered observability platform built on the Snowflake AI Data Cloud. Its infrastructure team architects, scales, and operates the development and production environments that power the platform. The team is small and collaborative, with broad scope and ownership, and focuses on reliable, secure, and scalable infrastructure. The Senior Infrastructure Engineer will help shape infrastructure strategy, drive architectural decisions, and improve operational excellence. The role includes launching single-tenant and multi-tenant customer environments, migrating Kubernetes ingress to Envoy and the Gateway API, moving releases toward GitOps with ArgoCD, and building repeatable fleet-wide processes for infrastructure upgrades, refreshes, and migrations. The engineer will also help integrate Observe infrastructure into Snowflake platforms and support enterprise-grade standards. Snowflake employees are expected to follow confidentiality and security standards and protect customer information.

Requirements

At least 5 years of experience in Infrastructure Engineering, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), DevOps, or related roles.
Demonstrated experience designing and operating production systems at scale, with deep ownership of reliability and operational excellence.
Strong Kubernetes experience, including architectural decision-making and operational tuning.
Hands-on experience managing cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform and GitOps tools such as ArgoCD, with a focus on scalable system design.
Experience with least-privilege IAM, secrets management, and securing production access.
Strong programming skills in Go, Python, or similar languages, with a track record of building automation and infrastructure systems.
Experience driving cross-team technical initiatives and influencing infrastructure best practices.
Ability to balance immediate operational demands with long-term architectural vision.
Comfort making and explaining prioritization decisions when inbound demand exceeds capacity.
Track record of thoughtfully applying AI tooling to infrastructure automation while keeping production changes safe and reviewable.

Nice To Haves

Experience leading large migrations involving CI systems, version control, or deployment platforms.
Experience with post-acquisition or platform-consolidation work.
Familiarity with observability platforms, telemetry pipelines, or monitoring infrastructure.
Experience building or evolving internal developer platforms.

Responsibilities

Lead the design, build, and operation of scalable, secure AWS and Kubernetes infrastructure across shared and dedicated customer environments.
Help integrate Observe infrastructure into Snowflake platforms, including CI, source control, and container platform migrations.
Own and evolve CI/CD pipelines, developer tooling, and platform automation, moving delivery toward GitOps and safe, independent service deployments.
Partner with the Security team to improve access controls, secrets management, and production security posture.
Design and implement infrastructure patterns for high availability, fault tolerance, and operational resilience.
Participate in the infrastructure on-call rotation and contribute to incident response, root cause analysis, and post-incident reliability improvements.
Partner with Product and Engineering teams so infrastructure strategy supports long-term platform evolution.
Take ownership of ambiguous projects from scoping through delivery.
Help onboard and mentor newer engineers through design and code reviews.
Follow company confidentiality and security standards and keep customer information secure and confidential.
