Senior Infrastructure Engineer
About The Position
As a Senior Infrastructure Engineer on LaunchDarkly’s IDE team, you will help build, automate, and improve the systems that keep the company’s platform running at scale. The platform serves over twenty trillion feature flags daily across a global AWS footprint. The IDE team owns the infrastructure layer, including networking, compute, CI/CD, databases, and observability, and aims to make that layer increasingly self-service and automated. You will write software to replace manual processes, build tools that help engineers work more efficiently, and contribute to a culture that treats operational toil as a problem to fix. LaunchDarkly follows a you-build-it-you-run-it approach, and all engineers participate in an on-call rotation.
Requirements
- 8 or more years of professional software engineering experience.
- Familiarity with AWS.
- Ability to write software to solve problems, beyond configuration when appropriate.
- Curiosity about how things work and willingness to learn new tools quickly.
- Commitment to a communicative and collaborative working environment.
- High standards for yourself and others when working with production systems.
- Value for code quality, automated testing, and engineering best practices.
Nice To Haves
- Experience with Terraform or similar Infrastructure-as-Code tools.
- Experience with CI/CD systems such as GitHub Actions or Jenkins.
- Familiarity with containers and Kubernetes.
- Experience with observability tools such as Datadog.
Responsibilities
- Automate infrastructure provisioning, deployment, and operational workflows.
- Build and improve internal tools and platforms that make other engineers more productive.
- Manage and evolve AWS infrastructure using Terraform.
- Participate in on-call rotations and turn incident patterns into permanent fixes.
- Collaborate with product engineering teams to understand their infrastructure needs and reduce friction.
- Identify repetitive operational work and replace it with software.
