About The Position

Join AbbVie’s Information Security & Risk Management (ISRM) team as a Senior Engineer, IAM Directory Services, where we empower our partners to succeed by delivering the knowledge, tools, and support needed to leverage data and technology securely and effectively. As part of our Identity & Access Management (IAM) team, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing our enterprise-wide IAM strategy.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree with 6 years’ experience; Master’s Degree with 5 years’ experience; PhD with 0 years’ experience.
  • Respective years of demonstrated experience in an information security role, ideally as a Security Engineer or Engineer.
  • Direct experience with M&A, divestitures, or multi-company collaborations.
  • Familiarity with a range of security tools and platforms (self-hosted and cloud).
  • Proven experience with Cloud Identity Providers (e.g., Entra, Okta, or PingOne) supporting SAML, OIDC, and OAuth 2.0.
  • Working knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and collaboration tools (M365, GSuite, Slack) and integrations into Cloud Identity Providers.
  • Proficiency in Active Directory and related security constructs (domains, forests, trusts).
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., SANS, AWS).
  • Demonstrated ability to lead integration strategies and influence peers to achieve desired outcomes.
  • In-depth knowledge of identity and access governance policies and standards, including least-privilege, access lifecycle management, and enterprise security policy frameworks.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.

Nice To Haves

  • 5 years in an information security role, ideally as an Identity or Security Engineer.
  • Practical experience in security architecture (e.g., Cloud Security, AppSec, Network Security, Identity) and can speak to solutions they have designed and implemented.
  • Relevant identity-focused certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Identity and Access Administrator, Okta Certified Professional/Consultant, or Ping Identity certifications).
  • Familiar with industry standards such as NIST 800 and ISO 27001.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with business development groups throughout various stages of company relationships—whether it is a research-sharing arrangement, full acquisition, or site divestiture.
  • Support the initial integration of cross-company communication, followed by the migration of users to AbbVie-managed devices, and subsequently assist with application transitions and the decommissioning of legacy environments.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between the Identity team and both technical and business stakeholders, operating at both strategic and operational levels to develop, coordinate, and implement secure identity designs.
  • Provide advisory services to reduce risk and technical friction in these transactions. As a full-time employee, you will be a key contributor to AbbVie’s long-term strategy and culture.
  • Lead the technical onboarding and identity integration of newly acquired entities, ensuring seamless access to AbbVie systems and resources.
  • Design and implement identity federation and trust models across multiple domains and forests to support secure collaboration.
  • Drive the migration of users, devices, and applications from legacy environments to AbbVie’s standardized platforms.
  • Develop and maintain automation scripts and workflows to streamline identity provisioning and deprovisioning during Merger & Acquisition (M&A) transitions.
  • Maintain documentation and contributing to the continuous improvement of M&A identity playbooks and standards.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in identity architecture during due diligence and post-merger integration phases.
