About The Position

Comprehensive Energy Services, Inc. is hiring a Senior HVAC/Plumbing Estimator. The role analyzes blueprints, specifications, quotations, and existing site conditions to determine project time, cost, and labor accurately. The Senior Estimator also supports Estimators I and II and performs other departmental functions. The position estimates commercial HVAC and plumbing projects, produces conceptual estimates when information is limited, and prepares detailed take-offs and estimate software reports. It involves reviewing vendor and subcontractor quotes against bid documents, contributing to bid and client meetings, developing pricing and proposal scope information, and coordinating with clients, vendors, Project Managers, and other departments. The Senior Estimator helps manage departmental workload and personnel, reviews other estimators’ work, assists the Chief Estimator with daily estimating operations, and provides project turnover information after awards.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree, or a high school diploma with 6 years of estimating experience, or a high school diploma with 8–10 years of trade-related experience.
Valid Florida Driver’s License.
Knowledge of HVAC and plumbing codes and systems.
Knowledge of modern office practices, procedures, and equipment.
Skill with estimating software, advanced Excel, Word, Outlook, and basic computer operations.
Knowledge of correct English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation, and vocabulary.
Oral and written communication skills.
Ability to determine actual project scope and cost.
Duct work experience.
Ability to protect the company from financial loss associated with errors or omissions.
Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
Ability to meet schedules and deadlines and plan and organize work.

Responsibilities

Produce conceptual estimates with limited information.
Take an active role in post-bid scoping meetings with clients.
Track bid status and acquire bid results.
Consult with other departments to discuss and formulate estimates.
Manage personnel within the department and help manage the workload of lower-level staff.
Estimate commercial HVAC and plumbing projects.
Attend pre-bid surveys and incorporate site conditions into estimates.
Perform detailed take-offs and produce estimate software reports.
Identify, compile, and submit RFI questions in a timely manner.
Review and qualify vendor and subcontractor quotes against bid documents to ensure accurate scope coverage at bid time.
Consult with clients, vendors, and Project Managers to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues.
Capture remaining estimating price data, including management and general conditions costs.
Perform breakout, alternate, and value-engineering pricing as required.
Assist with proposal scope letters to ensure accurate inclusions, exclusions, and qualifications.
Compute cost factors and prepare estimates for management purposes, including planning, organizing, scheduling work, preparing bids, selecting vendors or subcontractors, and determining cost-effectiveness.
Participate in prime/general contractor bid review meetings.
Provide project turnover information after award and participate in turnover meetings.
Review estimates completed by other estimators.
Assist the Chief Estimator with day-to-day estimating operations.
Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
