About The Position
The Public Assistance Division of the Prince William County Department of Social Services is seeking a full-time Senior Human Services Specialist to join our Public Assistance team. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work directly with individuals and families, guiding them through the eligibility determination process for SNAP and Medical Assistance programs. In this role, you will review applications and determine eligibility for SNAP and Medicaid based on program policies. You will conduct interviews, verify applicant details, and deliver compassionate customer service while explaining program benefits. Additionally, you will handle a high volume of work in a fast-paced, dynamic setting.
Requirements
- High school diploma or G.E.D
- 4 years of experience determining eligibility for public assistance programs in VACMS
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and be eligible to drive for work.
Nice To Haves
- 4 or more years of experience determining eligibility for SNAP using VaCMS
- 4 or more years of experience determining eligibility for MAGI and Families & Children Medicaid using VaCMS
- 2 years of experience independently troubleshooting and successfully resolving VaCMS system issues
Responsibilities
- Review applications and determine eligibility for SNAP and Medicaid based on program policies.
- Conduct interviews, verify applicant details, and deliver compassionate customer service while explaining program benefits.
- Handle a high volume of work in a fast-paced, dynamic setting.
- All DSS staff are required to provide emergency human services work, including staffing emergency shelters in the event of a community disaster.
