About The Position

This position is responsible for providing generalist-level support for a variety of human resource functions in the areas of recruiting/staffing, leaves of absence/modified duty, training, performance management, and policy and procedure interpretation. Work is sensitive and highly confidential. This position will primarily perform these duties for the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office in support of the needs of law enforcement personnel. Generally, the hiring range is $78,364-$97,955 annually. Qualifications, education and experience as it relates to the position will be taken into consideration when determining hiring salary. In the event of an emergency/disaster in or near the County, all County employees are expected to make every effort to be available to assist the County Manager, Elected/Appointed Officials and Department Directors to ensure the continued operation of any and all necessary County functions. This may mean being available to perform additional duties and hours beyond what is normally required. In the event that an exempt employee does work more than 40 hours a week in support of County operations during an emergency, such employee may receive overtime or other appropriate wage compensation in accordance with existing County policies or at the discretion of the County.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Human Resources, Business or related field.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in Human Resources.
  • Professional Human Resources certification, or the ability to obtain within 6-months of hire.
  • Successful completion of a criminal background check including fingerprinting through a national database.
