About The Position

As a Senior HR Generalist at Gordon Food Service (GFS), you will be a culture-shaper, a strategic advisor, and a champion for employees. Working onsite at our Brighton, MI office, you will provide expert-level consultation that drives the organization's success. You will serve as a high-level partner to the leadership team, ensuring the GFS "Open Door" culture is a daily reality. Your expertise will cover the entire employee lifecycle, including leadership development, employee relations, total rewards, and operational excellence.

Requirements

4 or more years of HR experience, ideally within a large-scale distribution or corporate environment, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
A "people-first" mindset with the professional rigor to handle sensitive investigations and organizational changes.
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business or related field required.
Expert Communication: Ability to translate complex HR policies into actionable advice.
Cultural Competence: Deep understanding of employment laws and a passion for fostering an inclusive, compliant, and thriving workplace.
Problem-Solving Prowess: Ability to develop creative, scalable solutions for challenges.

Nice To Haves

Senior Professional Human Resources (SPHR) or Professional Human Resources (PHR) certification preferred.

Responsibilities

Educate and coach leaders through Leadership Development initiatives, facilitating the growth of future leaders and high-potential talent.
Act as a trusted advisor in employee relations, navigating complex situations with empathy and fairness while promoting a high-performance culture.
Champion retention by conducting stay and exit interviews, identifying trends, and using feedback to improve the employee experience.
Serve as the local expert on compensation, benefits, and wellness initiatives.
Use data-driven insights to influence business decisions and streamline absence management (FMLA/Workers Comp).
