About The Position

Artheon is seeking a highly motivated Senior Highway Engineer to join our team in Berlin or East Brunswick, NJ. The ideal candidate will have approximately 10+ years of industry experience in highway design and transportation engineering. The successful candidate should have experience with design and plan production using one or more of the following: AutoDesk Civil3D, Bentley MicroStation, Bentley OpenRoads Designer, and Bentley InRoads. An ideal candidate with this experience may be more Task Leader, more management focused, or be more technical engineering/subject matter expert focused, or a combination of both. As a Senior Highway Engineer, you will work on a variety of transportation infrastructure projects, including roadway design, intersection improvements, and safety enhancements. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • 10+ years of industry experience in highway design or transportation engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in New Jersey or ability to obtain through reciprocity within a year, required
  • Proficiency in MicroStation InRoads or OpenRoads (preferred) or other CAD software for roadway design.
  • Familiarity with NJTA, NJDOT, and AASHTO design standards and guidelines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with clients, agency representatives, project teams, and project managers.

Responsibilities

  • Lead highway and roadway design teams on planning and design tasks.
  • Manage tasks including design within project scope, schedule, budget, staffing and deliverable.
  • Develop highway alignments and profiles, typical sections, grading, cross-sections, and safety improvements including guide rail and median barrier design in accordance with NJTA, NJDOT and AASHTO standards.
  • Collaborate with project managers, clients, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure project objectives are met efficiently and within budget.
  • Evaluate existing roadways for safety improvements, including existing signage and striping.
  • Develop the MPT needs for construction projects to manage traffic flow safely during construction, including barrier placement, construction signage, and temporary striping.
  • Ensure designs comply with NJTA, NJDOT, AASHTO, and local transportation agency regulations.
  • Prepare technical reports, plans using CAD software, with preference for MicroStation in accordance with NJTA and NJDOT standards.
  • Perform quantity takeoff calculations, prepare cost estimates and prepare project specifications to client requirements.
