About The Position

The Edwardsville, IL office of Modjeski and Masters is seeking a Senior Highway Design Engineer with at least 10 years of experience in the planning, design, and delivery of transportation infrastructure projects. Full-time and part-time opportunities are available. Requirements

  • Senior-level engineer with 10+ years of progressive experience in highway and transportation engineering design.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited college or university with an emphasis in Highway or Transportation Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in Illinois or Missouri required, or the ability to obtain reciprocity within a reasonable timeframe.
  • Demonstrated experience leading the design and delivery of transportation projects for public agency clients.
  • Strong knowledge of IDOT and/or MoDOT design standards, procedures, and project delivery requirements.
  • Experience managing multidisciplinary project tasks, budgets, schedules, and technical teams.
  • Proficiency with MicroStation, OpenRoads Designer, AutoCAD Civil 3D, and related transportation design software.
  • Strong organizational, leadership, and project management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with clients, agency representatives, and project stakeholders.
  • Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning, design, and delivery of highway and transportation projects for state, municipal, and local agency clients.
  • Manage project scopes, schedules, budgets, and technical deliverables while ensuring quality and client satisfaction.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers and design staff.
  • Direct the preparation of plans, specifications, engineering reports, and cost estimates.
  • Oversee design activities involving roadway geometrics, drainage systems, pavement design, intersections, ADA compliance, permanent signing, pavement marking, traffic control, and Transportation Management Plans (TMPs).
  • Coordinate with subconsultants providing survey, geotechnical, traffic engineering, and environmental services.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for clients and project stakeholders.
  • Participate in project pursuits, including preparation of technical proposals, statements of qualifications, scopes of work, and fee estimates.
  • Support business development initiatives and contribute to the continued growth of M&M's transportation practice.
  • Perform occasional field investigations and site visits as required.
  • Collaborate with bridge, structural, environmental, and other multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated transportation solutions.
