About The Position
WM is hiring a Senior Heavy Equipment Mechanic to service and repair heavy equipment at its material disposal facility in Marana, Arizona. The mechanic works on equipment essential to WM’s operations, including bulldozers, scrapers, loaders, and other machinery. The role includes preventative maintenance, diagnostics, repairs, and related paperwork. The position operates in garage, shop, or gas plant settings and outdoors, including in inclement weather, heat, and humidity. WM describes its work as safety-focused and offers training and development.
Requirements
- At least 4 years of maintenance mechanic experience on heavy equipment.
- A valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
- Must be over 18 years of age.
- Legally eligible to work in the United States.
- Ability to perform the physical requirements of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Successfully complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen and physical.
Responsibilities
- Repair bulldozers, scrapers, backhoes, front-end loaders, yard trucks, farm tractors, forklifts, company cars, and other equipment.
- Diagnose and repair differentials, hydraulic systems, motors, transmissions, drives, air-conditioning systems, and electrical systems.
- Perform preventative maintenance according to the site checklist.
- Complete work orders, card files, preventative-maintenance checklists, oil samples, and other paperwork and administrative tasks.
- Service and maintain light plants, water pumps, welders, and other equipment.
