About The Position

The GSE Mechanic performs a full range of maintenance tasks on ground equipment, including preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, disassembly, repair, and installation. The role ensures work meets quality standards and may include certifying mechanical releases. The mechanic follows company policies and procedures and works independently or under leadership guidance. This position is covered by a Transport Workers Union (TWU) collective bargaining agreement, which requires joining the union and paying union dues.

Requirements

High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
At least 18 years of age.
Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
Valid driver's license.
Ability to work rotating shifts, including weekends, holidays, and days off.
Ability to push, pull, and lift parts and components weighing up to 60 pounds from sitting, standing, bending, squatting, or overhead positions.
Ability to bend, stoop, and crawl in tight, restricted spaces, including fuel cells and aircraft belly areas.
Ability to lift and carry tools and equipment weighing up to 100 pounds.

Nice To Haves

Paint and body experience preferred.
Diesel experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Troubleshoot, disassemble, repair, replace, test, and reassemble ground equipment.
Complete preventative maintenance.
Install, service, fabricate, and tow equipment in service or undergoing modification.
Certify workmanship quality, including signing off on field work mechanical releases.
Order, receive, inventory, and disburse parts and supplies.
Safely operate vehicles up to 10 tons, or up to 40 tons in select roles, in congested areas.
Work with color-coded wiring and components, accurately differentiating colors.
Use hand and power tools for maintenance tasks.
Read and interpret technical manuals and complete maintenance forms and records clearly and accurately.
Work independently with minimal supervision while following company procedures and instructions.
