About The Position

Burrtec is a well-established refuse and recycling collection company serving over fifteen municipalities throughout Southern California and employing over 1,400 full-time employees. Burrtec continues to grow through company acquisitions and successful bid proposals. We are looking for Diesel/CNG Mechanics at our Victorville, CA Hauling Division.

Requirements

Methods, materials, tools and techniques used in vehicle and equipment repair and maintenance.
Diagnosing mechanical problems and performing repairs.
Safety practices and procedures.
Mechanical design and fabrication.
Electrical systems, including computerized induction/ignition systems.
Use of power and hand tools.
Use of diagnostic equipment.
Acetylene and electric arc welding.
Operation of vehicles and equipment for diagnostic purposes.
Work varying shifts, weekends and holidays.
Diagnose problems and make repairs in the field.
Effectively handle lifting of various objects weighing up to 75 pounds.
Work extended hours outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.
Prepare and maintain records and reports.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other agencies and the public.
Follow written and verbal instructions, including manufacturers’ service specifications.
Communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
Minimum of 5 years exp. on heavy duty diesel and gasoline truck repair.
Valid California Driver's License and a clean driving record, required
Must be able to lift and pull 75 lbs.
Physical demands include bending, lifting, reaching, climbing, and standing.

Responsibilities

Will perform major and minor engine repairs and accessories
Will respond to road call and perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
Diagnoses/rebuild/repair vehicles and equipment.
Performs detailed inspections and preventive maintenance of vehicles and equipment.
Troubleshoot, diagnose, remove and repair engines.
Remove and replace transmissions and brakes.
Repair, mount and dismount tires.
Repair and replace hydraulic hoses.
Remove and replace brakes
Prepares and maintains records and reports.
Must follow all safety procedures and policies.
