About The Position

The Program Manager is a key leader responsible for managing all new project requests containing technology, evaluating and prioritizing them before they consume funds or resource capacity. This role involves partnering closely with executive leadership, clinicians, and cross-functional teams to evaluate technology opportunities across the enterprise. The Program Manager will serve as the central point of contact for new project submissions, requests, and ideas, reviewing them to ensure business needs, value proposition, cost estimates, impacts, and risk levels are fully documented. They will formulate and define systems scope and objectives, facilitate priority scoring with governance committees, and coordinate request reviews for approval, deferral, or rejection. Maintaining visibility across the demand lifecycle using ServiceNow is crucial, as is directly managing projects by effectively controlling scope, schedule, budget, and benefits.

Requirements

  • Senior-level program management experience with business-critical strategic projects from the conceptual phase through solution implementation and project close.
  • Ability to work independently and demonstrate leadership in various situations.
  • 10+ years of healthcare IT project management experience.
  • Solid project management background in a hospital or health system IT environment.
  • Demonstrated experience with multiple projects leading business process documentation and business process re-design across multiple functional areas.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate a vision, build relationships, and obtain buy-in.
  • Experience with budgeting, including general accounting knowledge of capital versus operating expenses.
  • Adept in project financial management and strong working knowledge of accounting principles such as ROI analysis.
  • Experience developing business cases.
  • Experience with requirements definition and validation.
  • Management of RAID logs, including bringing issues and escalations to agreeable resolutions for all stakeholders.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple projects and competing priorities while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Strong documentation and artifacts management skills.
  • Proven record of delivering projects on time, within budget, and within scope.
  • Demonstrated experience with executive-level communications, including creating and presenting materials.
  • Ability to execute in a remote workforce environment, developing relationships and achieving desired outcomes.

Nice To Haves

  • PMP certification preferred, but extensive relevant experience will be accepted in lieu of PMP.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the central point of contact for new project submissions, requests, and ideas.
  • Review incoming requests to ensure business needs, value proposition, cost estimates, impacts, and risk levels are fully documented.
  • Formulate and define systems scope and objectives through research and fact-finding combined with an understanding of applicable business systems and industry requirements.
  • Facilitate priority scoring with the appropriate governance committee using models based on strategic alignment, impact, and urgency.
  • Coordinate request reviews by governance committees to approve, defer, or reject the project.
  • Maintain visibility across the demand lifecycle using ServiceNow.
  • Directly manage projects, which includes closely and effectively managing project scope, schedule, budget, and benefit.
  • Apply project management best practices and rigor across all project deliverables and with business units while promoting standards for project management.
  • Translate strategies into specific goals, tactics, action plans, and deliverables.
  • Provide leadership in the requirements gathering process for both business and technical requirements.
  • Facilitate the technical design and build process with multiple partners while ensuring business outcomes of the project are met.
  • Facilitate collaboration between the project sponsor, project team members, business stakeholders, and clinical stakeholders.
  • Drive day-to-day project operation activities along with project status reporting.
  • Proactively identify, manage, and address change management.
  • Ensure proper testing and acceptance of solutions with internal, business, and clinical partners as appropriate.
  • Lead operational readiness, including transition plans, productivity management during transformations, standard operating procedures, workarounds, and downtime procedures.
  • Develop and execute enterprise-level communication plans.
  • Deliver on strategic alignment of projects to achieve overarching business objectives for the enterprise.
