About The Position

The Senior Health Educator is responsible for assisting with the evening management of the FPHNY Outreach Program. The Senior Health Educator is the operator of the FPHNY mobile outreach vehicle. The Senior Health Educator is also responsible for coaching, resolving issues and serving as a link between team members and management.

Requirements

  • Working knowledge of harm reduction theory and practice.
  • Experience with providing harm reduction services to active drug users, the homeless and sex workers.
  • Proven experience as a team leader.
  • Maintain personnel supervision records.
  • Prepare and submit performance evaluations.
  • Plan agency outreach strategies, times, locations and activities.
  • Ensure adherence to legal and company policies and procedures and undertake disciplinary actions if the need arises.
  • Good knowledge of MS Office.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to advocacy and activism, HIV/AIDS, homelessness and drug policy.
  • Represent the agency at meetings.
  • Attend all required trainings.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Valid, clean NYS driver license (3 years NYS driving experience).

Responsibilities

  • Provide consistent leadership and training, professional development and oversight of FHNY team members.
  • Set individual staff monthly and annual performance goals in direct correlation to contract deliverables.
  • Ensure that each team member understand their job function, their duties and expected performance goals.
  • Monitor employee productivity and provide constructive feedback and coaching.
  • Assist the Outreach Supervisor with the development and regular updates of the FPHNY evening schedule, employee and scheduling concerns.
  • Assist the Outreach Supervisor with scheduling of the mobile FPHNY site locations, Harm Reduction Specialist schedules and outreach activities.
  • Conduct Community Mapping to address the needs of the North Bronx communities by identifying and mapping new locations to provide such services.
  • Manage syringe litter clean-up events and provide guidance to the parks clean up team.
  • Assist with Quality Assurance (QA) activities, monitoring quality improvement indicators and ongoing review of program activity logs and documentation.
  • Develop professional relationships with outside service providers.
  • Ensure the outreach vehicle is well maintained and adequately stocked.
  • Submit all gasoline receipts to the Vice President of Harm Reduction Services.
  • Report any issues related to the outreach vehicle to the Outreach Supervisor.
  • Collect, review and correct all data collection forms from team members at the end of each shift.
