In this role, you will be involved in creating, implementing, and evaluating public health education programs and materials, collaborating with diverse community groups to promote public health initiatives, and advising departmental staff on educational techniques and community resources. Responsibilities also include organizing health-focused events, crafting publicity materials, conducting training programs, reviewing educational resources for relevance, maintaining reports, staying updated on health education topics, and potentially supervising interns and staff.

Requirements

Possession of a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in public health or related field
Two years of community health education experience
Must be able to travel to various locations within and outside the City of Berkeley to meet the program needs and to fulfill the job responsibilities
When driving on City business, the incumbent is required to maintain a valid California driver's license as well as a satisfactory driving record
Knowledgeable of the 8 areas of responsibility and competencies for Health Education Specialists
Well versed in experiential and adult learning theories as well as behavior change theories and models

Nice To Haves

Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES)
One year of supervisory experience
Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) can be substituted for one year of community health education experience
CHES certification is highly desirable
