About The Position

Amazon is seeking a Senior Hardware Engineer to lead and scale critical platform capabilities supporting next-generation robotics systems. This role is responsible for owning and optimizing high-throughput, precision-critical operational systems, serving as the technical lead across a portfolio of complex workflows. You will partner with internal teams and external providers to design, implement, and continuously improve scalable systems that support the full lifecycle of our products. This role requires deep experience with complex, high-reliability systems and the ability to think holistically—connecting architecture, automation, and operational performance at scale. You will act as a technical leader within the broader engineering organization, driving alignment and execution across multiple domains.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, Operations Research, or a related field
  • 7+ years of experience working with complex, high-throughput systems or operational environments
  • Experience owning and optimizing end-to-end processes, including performance, reliability, and quality outcomes
  • Experience selecting, configuring, and deploying technical systems or platforms in a production environment
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze system performance and drive improvements in efficiency, utilization, and consistency
  • Experience working with external partners or vendors to deliver technical solutions
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills, with experience working across engineering, operations, and quality teams
  • Proficiency in data-driven decision making, including use of metrics, statistical methods, and structured problem solving

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline
  • Experience designing and scaling complex systems or platforms in high-volume environments
  • Deep understanding of automation, orchestration, or workflow optimization in production systems
  • Experience developing and implementing monitoring, validation, or control frameworks
  • Familiarity with system architecture trade-offs, standardization strategies, and lifecycle management
  • Experience driving continuous improvement initiatives with measurable impact on performance and reliability
  • Strong technical leadership experience, including setting direction and influencing across teams
  • Experience evaluating and integrating emerging technologies into existing systems
  • Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, actionable plans for diverse stakeholders

Responsibilities

  • Own end-to-end strategy for core operational workflows, defining performance targets, throughput expectations, and quality benchmarks
  • Drive selection and configuration of systems and platforms, evaluating trade-offs and establishing scalable, standardized approaches
  • Define resource and tooling strategies, including optimization, lifecycle management, and partner engagement
  • Design and optimize system layouts and workflows to improve efficiency, flow, and overall performance
  • Develop and implement automation strategies, incorporating orchestration, validation, and system integration patterns
  • Lead interface and handling strategies between interconnected systems to ensure reliability and scalability
  • Build and manage relationships with external partners and integrators, leading technical evaluation, onboarding, and deployment of solutions
  • Continuously improve processes and systems to increase efficiency, reliability, and utilization
  • Establish and maintain comprehensive documentation, including process definitions, control frameworks, risk assessments, and operating procedures
  • Partner with engineering teams to ensure solutions are designed for scalability, performance, and cost efficiency
  • Collaborate with quality and reliability teams to define validation approaches, monitoring frameworks, and performance targets
  • Work cross-functionally to ensure cohesive planning, integration, and execution across multiple domains
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend strategic investments to enhance platform capabilities
