  • Bachelor’s Degree and/or four years of college with emphasis in English, Government/Political Science, Journalism, Public Health, Social Sciences, or similar field preferred
  • Minimum four years of experience in grant writing and related grants task for nonprofit organizations for broad range of submissions, including application/proposal components for online, emailed, or hardcopy submissions and detailed reports as required by funding awards
  • Experience in proofreading and editing professional documents, grant applications and reports
  • Demonstrated experience in successfully managing complex grant projects from inception to completion, including multiple stakeholders, and setting and meeting deadlines
  • Record of success in securing grants preferably from diverse funding sources (e.g. public, independent, private, and corporate foundations)

Responsibilities

  • Develop in-depth understanding of DAP Health’s strategic goals, objectives, programs, services, and populations (demographics, needs, barriers, profiles)
  • Research public, independent, private, and corporate grant and other funding opportunities that support the goals and objectives of the organization
  • Research online and/or other sources related to DAP Health’s programs and services to obtain data, statistics and other information to support proposals for grant and other funding opportunities
  • Evaluate grant and other funding opportunities for alignment with mission, programs and services, agency eligibility, and submission requirements.
  • Acquire a thorough understanding of guidelines and submission requirements for applications, proposals, and letters of intent and effectively communicate these to the Associate Director of Grants Administration, agency, programs and operations departments
  • Collects needed information for competitive submission of assigned projects, including but not limited to budget inputs, data to support needs statements or project descriptions, outputs and outcomes, work plans, and supporting documentation
  • Compose high-quality, timely, researched and data-based proposals and reports, collaborating with other staff as necessary for background, project description, budgets, data, outcomes, evaluation strategies, and required supporting documentation
  • Ensure preparation of complete proof-read submission packages for assigned projects, anticipating all risks posed by submission and assuming responsibility for completing task in a timely fashion
  • Facilitate and document response to funders’ inquiries about submissions (on occasion, may serve as back-up to the Associate Director of Grants Administration and Directors as direct contact for pre-award and post-award correspondence by funders); Prepare acknowledgement letters and coordinate other required correspondence to accept award related to assigned projects
  • Review and understand all conditions/requirements of award and effectively communicates these conditions to others
  • Notify staff and departments involved with funding awards and provide education on conditions/requirements of award to support their roles and responsibilities to achieve successful implementation of grant-funded deliverables/activities and reporting requirements for assigned projects, and ensures completion of grant award tasks
  • Monitor the progress of funded proposals and submit required reports
  • Maintain complete, accurate, and organized files and updates to grant submission calendar and grant tracking databases
  • Proofread drafts of proposals, reports, and other documents prepared by colleagues and staff from other departments, to correct typographical errors, formatting inconsistencies, grammatical errors, and spelling errors
  • Meet deadlines for assigned projects and prepare data needed to update submission guidelines and grant tracking software
  • Cultivate and maintain supportive and productive working relationships with departmental colleagues and grantors to promote exchange of information
  • Contribute to the agencies and department’s effort to obtain and record consistent and confident quantitative and qualitative data that supports competitive submissions
  • Evaluate progress toward professional goals, report areas of strength, identify areas in need of improvement, develop informed response, and self-manage appropriate aspects of the course correction
  • Perform other job-related duties and project support as assigned
