About The Position

SLR Consulting (Americas) is seeking a senior-level Civil Engineer to work in their Reno, NV office. The Reno office provides a full range of professional services on a variety of challenging projects that include geotechnical engineering, earthworks and grading, stormwater management design, hydrologic and hydraulic analysis, environmental remediation and construction quality monitoring. The selected candidate will work under the supervision of a principal engineer and will mentor junior staff while directing their own projects and technical work flows to deliver on; design; analysis; and preparation of specifications, calculations, and technical reports for a wide variety of mining and industrial projects. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering
  • Licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Nevada, or the ability to obtain within 6 months
  • 10+ years of experience
  • Working knowledge of Engineering software including, but not limited to: Civil Design & Grading (Civil 3D)
  • Working knowledge of Engineering software including, but not limited to: Geotechnical Design (GeoStudio, Rocscience)
  • Possess valid driver’s license
  • Willing to travel by car and airplane, including overnight travel for domestic projects

Nice To Haves

  • M.Sc. preferred
  • Working knowledge of Engineering software including, but not limited to: Civil Design & Grading (Muk3D)
  • Working knowledge of Engineering software including, but not limited to: Geotechnical Design (Plaxis, FLAC, CPeT-IT and CLiq)
  • Willing to travel for international projects

Responsibilities

  • Lead and take professional ownership of projects in a technical capacity
  • Perform engineering work for industrial and mining projects
  • Perform geotechnical calculations for slope and foundation stability
  • Calculation of construction and earthwork quantities
  • Visit project sites for the purpose of data collection and monitoring, performing investigations and / or performing construction inspection services
  • Utilize a variety of computer programs including AutoCAD Civil 3D software to undertake designs and computations
  • Write memos and calculation packages to document work performed
