About The Position

Exponent is seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer for its Civil & Structural Engineering Practice in Bellevue, WA. This role involves working within a team to inspect, analyze, and evaluate geotechnical systems such as foundations, retaining walls, excavation support systems, levees, dams, and slopes. The position also includes preparing repair and mitigation concepts. Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Civil Engineering specializing in Geotechnical Engineering from an accredited university + 3 years of post-graduate experience
  • Alternatively, M.S. in Civil Engineering specializing in Geotechnical Engineering from an accredited university + a minimum of 5 years of experience
  • P.E. License (US) strongly preferred; P.Eng (Canada) will also be considered - must be licensed in the US and/or Canada
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Potential to develop successful client relations
  • Attention to detail, dedication to quality and accuracy
  • Desire to work in a fast paced environment
  • Effective leadership skills
  • Ability to work independently or support multiple group projects
  • Ability to interact with other engineers, administrative staff, and clients

  • Ability to synthesize and convey technical conclusions to individuals in engineering, business, and industry

Nice To Haves

  • Degrees, experience or related coursework in Geology/Geological Engineering, Groundwater/Surface Water Hydrology or Structural Engineering a strong plus
  • Knowledge of geotechnical modeling software, graphing software, GIS, and imaging software a strong plus

Responsibilities

  • Conducting field inspections and subsurface explorations
  • Performing geotechnical and civil engineering analyses
  • Assisting with peer review of the design and construction of geotechnical systems
  • Preparing conceptual designs for the repair/restoration of damaged geotechnical systems
