About The Position

Exponent is seeking a Geotechnical Engineer/Associate for their Civil & Structural Engineering Practice in Atlanta, GA. This role involves working as part of a team responsible for the inspection, analysis, and evaluation of geotechnical systems such as foundations, retaining walls, excavation support systems, levees, dams, and slopes. The position also includes the preparation of repair/mitigation concepts. Requirements

Ph.D. in Civil Engineering specializing in Geotechnical Engineering from an accredited university or M.S. in Civil Engineering specializing in Geotechnical Engineering from an accredited university plus 5 years' experience
Ability to obtain Professional Engineer licensure in 4 years
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
Attention to detail, dedication to quality and accuracy
Desire to work in a fast-paced environment
Effective leadership skills
Ability to work independently or support multiple group projects
Ability to interact with other engineers, administrative staff, and clients
Ability to gather information from a wide variety of sources (e.g., field investigations, document reviews, and interviews)
Ability to synthesize and convey technical conclusions to individuals in engineering, business, and industry

Nice To Haves

Degrees, experience or related coursework in Geology/Geological Engineering, Geographical Information Systems, Groundwater/Surface Water Hydrology or Structural Engineering a strong plus
Potential to develop successful client relations
Knowledge of geotechnical modeling software, graphing software, GIS, and imaging software a strong plus

Responsibilities

Conducting field inspections and subsurface explorations
Performing geotechnical and civil engineering analyses
Assisting with peer review of the design and construction of geotechnical systems
Preparing conceptual designs for the repair/restoration of damaged geotechnical systems
