Geotechnical Engineer/Associate (M.S./Ph.D.)
About The Position
Exponent is seeking a Geotechnical Engineer/Associate for its Civil & Structural Engineering Practice in Atlanta, GA. This role involves working within a team to inspect, analyze, and evaluate geotechnical systems such as foundations, retaining walls, excavation support systems, levees, dams, and slopes. The position also includes preparing concepts for repair and mitigation of these systems. Requirements
- Ph.D. in Civil Engineering specializing in Geotechnical Engineering from an accredited university or M.S. in Civil Engineering specializing in Geotechnical Engineering from an accredited university plus 5 years' experience
- Ability to obtain Professional Engineer licensure in 4 years
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
- Potential to develop successful client relations
- Attention to detail, dedication to quality and accuracy
- Desire to work in a fast-paced environment
- Effective leadership skills
- Ability to work independently or support multiple group projects
- Ability to interact with other engineers, administrative staff, and clients

- Ability to synthesize and convey technical conclusions to individuals in engineering, business, and industry
Nice To Haves
- Degrees, experience or related coursework in Geology/Geological Engineering, Geographical Information Systems, Groundwater/Surface Water Hydrology or Structural Engineering
- Knowledge of geotechnical modeling software, graphing software, GIS, and imaging software
Responsibilities
- Conducting field inspections and subsurface explorations
- Performing geotechnical and civil engineering analyses
- Assisting with peer review of the design and construction of geotechnical systems
- Preparing conceptual designs for the repair/restoration of damaged geotechnical systems
