About The Position

Exponent is seeking a Geotechnical Engineer/Associate for its Civil & Structural Engineering Practice in Atlanta, GA. This role involves working within a team to inspect, analyze, and evaluate geotechnical systems such as foundations, retaining walls, excavation support systems, levees, dams, and slopes. The position also includes preparing concepts for repair and mitigation of these systems. Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Civil Engineering specializing in Geotechnical Engineering from an accredited university or M.S. in Civil Engineering specializing in Geotechnical Engineering from an accredited university plus 5 years' experience
  • Ability to obtain Professional Engineer licensure in 4 years
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills

  • Effective leadership skills
  • Ability to work independently or support multiple group projects

Nice To Haves

  • Degrees, experience or related coursework in Geology/Geological Engineering, Geographical Information Systems, Groundwater/Surface Water Hydrology or Structural Engineering
  • Knowledge of geotechnical modeling software, graphing software, GIS, and imaging software

Responsibilities

  • Conducting field inspections and subsurface explorations
  • Performing geotechnical and civil engineering analyses
  • Assisting with peer review of the design and construction of geotechnical systems
  • Preparing conceptual designs for the repair/restoration of damaged geotechnical systems
