The Senior Business Development Manager is considered a leadership role with project management responsibilities that include leading development and acquisition activities associated with battery energy storage system (BESS) projects. For BESS acquisition opportunities, this role is responsible for leading negotiations and for planning, executing, monitoring, controlling and closing projects. For the development of BESS projects, the Senior Business Development Manager is accountable for the entire project scope, project team, local permitting, corporate governance and senior management communications. The Senior Business Development Manager is expected to mentor other team members in aspects of power generation project development, project acquisition, and power generation technologies. With extensive knowledge of the power industry, the Senior Business Development Manager is responsible for leading and pursuing growth strategies and opportunities. This includes leading evaluation, analysis, due diligence activities, and negotiations for prospective generation asset acquisition and development opportunities. The Senior Business Development Manager is the lead participant in negotiations of project contracts and agreements, pro forma financial modeling and analysis, preparation of regulatory filings, executive level communications, preparation of governance materials and public presentations. This includes leading internal teams from multiple disciplines and departments including construction, operations, external affairs, public affairs, corporate communications, legal, tax, accounting, environmental, risk management, fuels, treasury, public/investor relations and financial analysis.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 8 years of relevant experience is required (financial analysis, project management, account management, contract negotiations, project development, or other like).
  • An industry expert with extensive knowledge of electric project development and energy markets (specifically renewable and BESS projects) generally acquired through related work experience.
  • Superior financial analysis skills, including ability to review and make investment recommendations based on pro forma financial statement inputs and results.
  • Experience in leading commercial contract negotiations, acquisition/partnership and divestiture activities, and development of large or small energy projects/facilities.
  • Exemplary leadership and communication skills (oral/written/presentation/interpersonal) to drive results in a team environment under minimal direction with internal and external customers and stakeholders.
  • Ability to analyze information and make strategic business decisions using sound judgement skills.
  • Strong organizational, risk analysis, and project planning/execution skills are also required.
  • Must be able to effectively prioritize multiple key project efforts.
  • Demonstrated computer skills including all MS Office applications.
  • Military service members and veterans with ranks from E5-E9, Wl-CW5, or 03-06, plus appropriate equivalent combination of education and years of experience as outlined.
