Senior Full Stack Developer, Agentic Engineering

FullBloom•Meriden, CT
•Remote

About The Position

The Senior Full Stack Developer, Agentic Engineering is a founding member of a new engineering squad building staff-facing applications, APIs, and data services for Catapult Learning and SESI Schools. The squad will start with new functionality and then rebuild existing capabilities individually; it is not responsible for maintaining current legacy systems. AI coding agents are the primary way the engineer plans, implements, tests, and refactors work, with end-to-end ownership from requirements and technical design through production and deployment. The engineer also helps establish FullBloom’s shared agentic build pipeline, based on agent-ready specifications, AI-driven implementation and testing, automated quality gates, and human review. The role focuses on defining what to build, specifying it clearly, and validating agent output. It works with product, design, QA, DevOps, and security partners, often from lightweight briefs, while protecting student data and meeting accessibility and SOC 2 controls. The role owns full-stack features and related environments and delivery practices, including front ends, APIs, services, data stores, infrastructure as code, and deployment pipelines. It also mentors early-career engineers, documents reusable practices, and improves the squad’s delivery and quality through measurable outcomes. The position is remote.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field and at least 5 years of relevant work experience, or equivalent experience.
  • Daily, hands-on use of AI coding agents such as Claude Code, Codex, or Cursor to build production software, with concrete examples of their effect on workflow and results.
  • Working knowledge of agent effectiveness, including context management, task decomposition, clear specifications and prompts, and rigorous verification of agent output.
  • Demonstrated judgment reviewing agent output, finding and explaining problems in apparently correct code, and identifying changes requiring closer human review.
  • Strong product sense, including translating ambiguous problems into clear, well-scoped specifications and pushing back on unnecessary features.
  • Strong proficiency in TypeScript/JavaScript, React, HTML, and CSS.
  • Experience designing and building REST APIs and back-end services.
  • Strong working knowledge of relational databases such as PostgreSQL, including data modeling, query writing, and performance tuning.
  • Experience with cloud hosting, serverless technologies, and infrastructure as code, such as AWS with Terraform or CDK.
  • Proficiency in writing and automating unit, integration, and end-to-end tests.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines such as GitHub Actions and ownership of environments and deployments.
  • Expertise in Git and version control, including pull-request-based review workflows.
  • Strong knowledge of cross-browser, cross-platform, and cross-device compatibility.
  • Experience building accessible applications that meet WCAG and ADA requirements.
  • Track record of owning features end to end and mentoring other engineers.
  • Clear written communication, including specifications and technical designs usable by both people and agents.
  • Comfort working in short experimental cycles and discarding work that does not pan out.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience leading or contributing to adoption of agentic development practices within a team.
  • Experience building agent tooling, such as MCP servers, custom skills or subagents, or CI-integrated agent workflows such as ticket-to-pull-request automation.
  • Experience building LLM-powered or multi-agent features with frameworks such as the Claude Agent SDK, LangGraph, or Google ADK, including tool design, orchestration, and memory.
  • Experience rebuilding legacy applications on modern stacks, including extracting business rules from systems the candidate did not build.
  • Experience as an early member of a new team or product.
  • Experience designing data-heavy applications that handle large datasets with low latency and high reliability.
  • Experience building education technology, especially for PreK-12 schools and districts.
  • Experience integrating SSO and identity providers, including SAML or OIDC.
  • Experience with education data integrations such as SIS rostering (e.g., OneRoster, Clever) or LMS platforms.
  • Experience building search or analytics features with Elasticsearch or similar engines.
  • Familiarity with UX and HCI principles and design tools such as Figma.
  • Experience working under student-data privacy requirements such as FERPA or COPPA, or SOC 2 controls.

Responsibilities

  • Use AI coding agents as the primary way to plan, implement, test, and refactor code, while remaining accountable for all shipped code.
  • Review and validate agent-generated output, identify defects, determine which changes need closer human review, and own merge decisions.
  • Translate product briefs and stakeholder needs into agent-ready specifications, technical designs, data flows, and acceptance criteria.
  • Develop proofs of concept to test feasibility, demonstrate value, and resolve design questions.
  • Build end-to-end working skeletons in short experimental cycles, apply YAGNI, and discard work that does not prove valuable.
  • Own features end to end across front-end interfaces, APIs, back-end services, data stores, infrastructure as code, and deployment pipelines.
  • Build and maintain integrations with identity providers, rostering and student information systems, internal APIs, and shared data platforms.
  • Use agents to understand legacy systems’ business rules, data, and edge cases, then rebuild capabilities individually on the new stack.
  • Create and maintain agent context and standards, including repository instruction files, AI-readable coding standards, architecture decision records, and shared skills and prompts.
  • Configure agent tooling, permissions, and MCP integrations so agents can work safely in repositories and environments.
  • Own squad DevOps, including preview environments, safe test data with student information removed, and deployment pipelines.
  • Strengthen automated tests, CI checks, and AI-assisted code review so agent output meets quality requirements before merging.
  • Build verification feedback loops such as end-to-end tests and headless browser checks, while retaining independently written tests for high-risk areas.
  • Apply safeguards for secrets, data access, and student data, and align agent-driven work with SOC 2 change-management and SDLC controls.
  • Mentor early-career engineers in engineering fundamentals and review practices.
  • Develop reusable playbooks, templates, and skills; document friction points to improve the pipeline and support reuse across FullBloom engineering teams.
  • Work closely with product and design partners in a collaborative model where roles may blur, including designers submitting changes to working code.
  • Track delivery and quality signals such as lead time, rework, escaped defects, and change-failure rate.
  • Review human- and agent-written code for correctness, security, maintainability, and performance.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve production issues; participate in incident response and post-incident reviews.
  • Communicate scope, timelines, and trade-offs clearly to technical and non-technical colleagues.
  • Promote usability, accessibility, and security best practices.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
