About The Position
Knightscope (NASDAQ: KSCP) is a security technology company building the nation's first Autonomous Security Force. This role will own the Signals video UI, the primary customer-facing surface of the Signals platform, as it is brought in-house from a third-party vendor. The engineer will be the first of a two-person frontend team, responsible for setting the standards and codebase for future hires. The position is located onsite in Sunnyvale, CA.
Requirements
- 7+ years in frontend engineering.
- Strong experience with real-time video UI (WebRTC clients, media players).
- Deep experience with a modern frontend framework (React preferred).
- Accessibility and performance-first mindset.
- Comfort owning a customer-facing surface end to end.
Nice To Haves
- Security or surveillance product UI experience.
- Design system authoring experience.
- Prior work inheriting a codebase from a vendor or design agency.
Responsibilities
- Own the Signals video UI codebase and development lifecycle.
- Lead knowledge transfer from the current vendor UX designer.
- Partner with the video/streaming backend team on end-to-end streaming experience.
- Establish frontend standards for testing, accessibility, and performance.
- Prepare the team and codebase for the paired frontend hire later in 2027.
