Senior FP&A Manager

DelineaRedwood City, CA

About The Position

We are looking for a Senior FP&A Manager to join our Finance team as a key business partner supporting Delinea’s R&D organization and Chief Product Officer (CPO). This is a high-impact, highly visible role on a lean, collaborative finance team — you’ll sit at the intersection of Finance and Product, supporting financial planning, forecasting, and strategic decision-making across our product and platform roadmap. Reporting to the Senior Director, Finance, you will work closely alongside senior Finance leadership to support the R&D business partnership. You’ll own critical workstreams end-to-end — building models, driving forecast processes, and delivering executive-ready analyses — while partnering with senior Finance leadership on the broader CPO/R&D relationship. You’ll operate with a strong sense of ownership and accountability for your work, and you’ll have real opportunities to shape how Finance is perceived as a strategic partner across the organization. This role requires an independent self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced, high-growth SaaS environment and is energized by turning ambiguity into clarity and data into decisions.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of progressive experience in FP&A, Strategic Finance, investment banking, accounting, or a related field, with clear evidence of career progression.
  • Direct experience supporting technical or R&D organizations (Engineering, Product, Design) strongly preferred.
  • Prior experience at a high-growth SaaS company strongly preferred; familiarity with SaaS metrics (ARR, GRR, NRR, Bookings, Renewals, CLV) is a strong plus.
  • Experience with financial planning cycles (AOP, quarterly forecasting, monthly close) and headcount management in a complex, matrixed environment.
  • Exposure to pricing and packaging strategy at a SaaS company — experience building financial models to evaluate pricing tiers, packaging bundles, or monetization tradeoffs is a strong plus.
  • Strong financial modeling capability; advanced Excel proficiency required.
  • Exceptional communication and executive presence — you can influence senior leaders through concise, structured storytelling and clear financial recommendations.
  • Highly analytical problem-solver: comfortable handling ambiguity, connecting financial outcomes to operational drivers, and delivering actionable insights from large datasets.
  • Collaborative and low-ego working style; able to build trust and work effectively with cross-functional partners including Engineering, Product, Accounting, and Procurement.
  • Strong attention to detail, ownership mindset, and ability to manage multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment with minimal oversight.
  • Active user of AI tools (e.g., Claude, ChatGPT, Copilot) to accelerate analysis, automate routine tasks, and improve the quality and speed of financial deliverables. We expect this person to be a practitioner — not just curious about AI, but actively applying it as part of their daily workflow.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or a related field required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with financial planning and reporting systems (e.g., Workday Adaptive).
  • Experience with ERP or accounting systems (e.g., NetSuite) and close partnering with Accounting for month-end.
  • Familiarity with data and BI tools (e.g., Power BI) and/or basic SQL skills.
  • MBA, CPA, or equivalent advanced degree a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Senior Director, Finance in the strategic finance partnership with the CPO and R&D leadership team (Engineering, Product, and Design), providing financial guidance and thought partnership across investment decisions, headcount planning, and operational priorities.
  • Own assigned workstreams within the R&D business partnership end-to-end, operating with a high degree of independence and accountability for quality, accuracy, and timeliness of deliverables.
  • Proactively surface financial insights, risks, and opportunities — bringing analysis and recommendations forward before being asked, and enabling faster and better decisions across the R&D organization.
  • Prepare high-quality materials for leadership and executive reviews — translating complex financial and operational information into clear, concise, and persuasive narratives.
  • Evaluate ROI and financial discipline on strategic initiatives, partnering with R&D leadership to assess returns and track KPIs, proactively flagging risks and recommending course corrections.
  • Support Pricing & Packaging initiatives with financial modeling and analysis related to solution pricing strategy, packaging tradeoffs, and go-to-market economics — serving as a key finance resource for pricing decisions without directly owning the function.
  • Own and lead the annual operating plan (AOP) and monthly/quarterly forecast processes for the R&D organization, establishing a predictable financial cadence and alignment with company-wide objectives.
  • Build and maintain financial models to evaluate strategic investment opportunities — including vendor and tooling decisions, infrastructure spend, and build-vs-buy analyses.
  • Lead R&D headcount planning and budgeting cycles, ensuring human capital and resource investments align with product strategy and business growth goals.
  • Drive rigorous month-over-month and quarter-over-quarter variance analyses (actuals vs. plan/forecast), implementing proactive strategies to optimize operational expenses.
  • Own and maintain the cloud hosting cost forecast in close partnership with the Cloud Engineering team, tracking spend drivers, surfacing cost trends and anomalies, and proactively flagging risks or inefficiencies that could drive costs up — enabling the team to take action before issues materialize.
  • Develop and refine scalable reporting and analytical frameworks to improve financial transparency and decision velocity across Engineering, Product, and Finance leadership.
  • Deliver monthly and quarterly quantitative and qualitative financial analyses with clear variance commentary, highlighting key issues, risks, and actionable insights for senior stakeholders.
  • Partner closely with Accounting to ensure accurate and timely close reporting, providing variance narratives and translating results into strategic recommendations.
  • Identify and lead opportunities to enhance financial planning processes, systems, and controls — leveraging AI and automation to streamline workflows and strengthen forecasting accuracy.
  • Contribute to FP&A-wide process improvements as Delinea scales its financial infrastructure, including adoption of planning and reporting tools.
  • Champion data-driven decision-making and analytical rigor across Finance and the R&D organization.
