Interim Senior FP&A Consultant

AeroVironment•Huntsville, AL

About The Position

The Company is seeking an experienced Senior FP&A Consultant to provide interim coverage during a parental leave period. The consultant will support the Finance organization through a period of significant organizational and systems transition following the Company's recent acquisition. The successful candidate will be highly hands-on and capable of independently managing complex FP&A activities, including monthly and quarterly P&L reporting, forecasting, financial analysis, management reporting, system troubleshooting, cost pool allocations, and data integration across multiple financial systems. Given the complexity of the current environment, the ideal candidate will have deep FP&A experience combined with strong technical accounting, financial systems, and financial modeling expertise and should be able to quickly understand existing processes and independently troubleshoot issues across the financial systems landscape.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of progressive FP&A/Finance experience, preferably including Director-level responsibilities.
  • Significant experience owning or supporting monthly and quarterly P&L processes.
  • Deep understanding of P&L drivers, variance analysis, forecasting, budgeting, and Adjusted EBITDA.
  • Advanced/expert Excel modeling skills.
  • Hands-on experience with Unanet, including cost pool allocations and reporting.
  • Hands-on experience with OneStream, including reporting, data flows, and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with Oracle GL and Trial Balance reporting.

  • Strong accounting and financial reporting knowledge.
  • Experience working in a complex or changing systems environment, preferably following an acquisition, merger, or systems integration.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to independently investigate discrepancies and determine root causes.
  • Strong communication and executive presentation skills.
  • Experience with long-range planning and financial forecasting.
  • Familiarity with SEC reporting and 10-K filings.

  • SEC reporting and 10-K preparation.
  • Adjusted EBITDA reporting.
  • Supporting PE-backed or acquisition-driven organizations.

  • The candidate should be comfortable going from a detailed GL or Trial Balance report, through Unanet and OneStream, to an executive-level P&L and Adjusted EBITDA explanation.
  • They should be able to identify when a number does not look right, trace the issue through the underlying systems and allocations, determine the root cause, and explain the resulting financial impact to senior leadership.
  • Because the Company is integrating systems following an acquisition, the candidate must be comfortable working in an environment where processes and systems may not always be fully documented and should have the technical and analytical ability to figure things out independently rather than relying heavily on others for direction.
  • Independently support and/or own the monthly and quarterly P&L process.
  • Produce accurate and timely financial reporting and analysis.
  • Quickly understand the Company's financial systems and data flows.
  • Troubleshoot discrepancies between Unanet, OneStream, Oracle, and other reporting systems.
  • Accurately explain P&L and Adjusted EBITDA movements.
  • Maintain and enhance complex FP&A models.
  • Support forecasting, budgeting, and long-range planning.
  • Provide high-quality executive reporting and presentations.
  • Minimize disruption to the Finance organization during the parental leave period.
  • Operate effectively with minimal supervision in a complex post-acquisition environment.
  • This position requires access to information that is subject to compliance with the International Traffic Arms Regulations (“ITAR”) and/or the Export Administration Regulations (“EAR”). In order to comply with the requirements of the ITAR and/or the EAR, applicants must qualify as a U.S. person under the ITAR and the EAR, or a person to be approved for an export license by the governing agency whose technology comes under its jurisdiction.
