About The Position

Dscout is hiring a Senior Forward Deployed Engineer to partner with Strategic Project Leads and build technical solutions for customer programs involving real-world AI use. The role turns ambiguous customer requests into plans and shipped solutions, using Dscout’s mature research platform where possible and configuring or building new capabilities when needed. Programs include capturing long-horizon AI product use, comparing models with appropriately profiled participants, delivering human judgment and preference data for training pipelines, and connecting real user behavior to model and product decisions. The engineer scopes programs, identifies what to reuse or build, documents deliverables and risks, and develops capture flows, task logic, data pipelines, and delivery across web, mobile, and backend systems. The role ships production code used by real participants and applies AI coding agents and evaluations in the development process. It also owns data redaction, validation, provenance, quality checks, human-review paths, and evidence of data quality in collaboration with the research team. The engineer works with core engineering to incorporate repeat customer builds into the shared platform, without creating forks, and helps shape future platform capabilities based on customer needs. This is a senior role on a small team in a new unit within an established company, with live customers and direct access to senior leaders. The position is remote-first, with a Bay Area location requirement and occasional customer travel.

  • Experience working directly with technical customers, such as as a forward deployed engineer, solutions engineer, or early founding engineer.

  • Hands-on experience with AI coding agents such as Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, or similar, including shipping substantial work with them.
  • Experience building with LLMs and understanding how they are evaluated; comfort with non-determinism and reasoning about behavior across a distribution.
  • Clear written communication and ability to explain tradeoffs to researchers and product managers.
  • Based in the Bay Area and able to travel occasionally for customer work.
