About The Position

Lunon is an AI-native consulting firm headquartered in New York City. It embeds engineers with client businesses to identify valuable AI opportunities, build and deploy software, and support the client until its team can operate the systems independently. The Senior Forward Deployed Engineer will own an engagement with a private-equity-backed call analytics company that processes thousands of recorded conversations each day. The role involves deciding what to build, implementing the core systems, and leading a Forward Deployed Engineer who works alongside them. The position is fully remote within the US, with occasional fully covered travel to client sites for a few days at a time.

Requirements

• Have owned a production system end to end, including responding when it broke.
• Have shipped LLM features that real users depend on.
• Have worked at a company with a high engineering bar and understand what good engineering looks like.
• Have changed a solution in response to stakeholder feedback.
• Be able to explain technical decisions to both a CEO and a junior engineer.
• Use AI coding tools every day and evaluate results by the system and its output, not by the programming language.
• Be able to travel to client sites.
• Be authorized to work in the US.

Nice To Haves

• Experience building with speech-to-text, conversation analytics, or large volumes of unstructured text.
• Experience integrating with a CRM, telephony platform, or data warehouse.
• Experience in consulting, agency, or forward-deployed work, including becoming useful quickly in a client's workplace.

Responsibilities

• Work with the client's team to identify where AI can improve business results and decide what to build first.
• Design and build speech and text pipelines, LLM workflows with human review, and integrations with CRM, telephony, and data warehouse systems.
• Run systems in the client's cloud and own their production reliability.
• Prioritize work based on expected business value and decline work that will not pay back.
• Hand off systems so the client's team can operate them independently.
• Lead a Forward Deployed Engineer working on the engagement.
