About The Position

Anduril’s Test and Evaluation team develops testing approaches that ensure its products meet high standards of performance and reliability. The Senior Flight Test Engineer will focus on testing mission autonomy systems, including Fury, Anduril’s Group 5 UAS. The role supports iterative development and refinement of autonomous systems so users can execute complex missions precisely and efficiently. The engineer will manage testing from end to end: shape program requirements, develop test plans, lead execution, analyze test data, and report findings to cross-functional and program teams. Testing includes simulated mission profiles and coordination with private and government test ranges. The role collaborates with software and hardware engineers and product managers to align test requirements with system capabilities and mission objectives. Flexible hours and travel to testing locations may be required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, robotics, or a related technical field from an accredited institution, or equivalent experience in autonomous systems testing.
  • At least 3 years of flight-testing experience, with an emphasis on autonomous or remotely piloted systems.
  • Ability to develop and execute test plans for complex systems within aggressive timelines.
  • Familiarity with mission autonomy, unmanned systems, and integrating multiple assets into cohesive operational frameworks.
  • Strong analytical skills, including interpreting test data, diagnosing system behavior, and recommending actionable improvements.
  • Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to achieve project milestones and deliverables.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to explain technical challenges and solutions to diverse audiences.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours and travel to testing locations as required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Top Secret-Level security clearance.
  • Must undergo pre-employment and randomized substance screening as required by the company.

Nice To Haves

  • Direct experience developing, testing, and deploying mission autonomy systems in a defense or aerospace context.
  • Hands-on experience with simulation environments and tools for testing autonomous systems.
  • Familiarity with software development practices and programming languages used in autonomy and robotics, such as Python, C++, and ROS.
  • Knowledge of current industry and military standards for unmanned aerial systems and their operation within national airspace.

Responsibilities

  • Advance testing methodologies for mission autonomy systems to verify reliable performance in complex operational scenarios.
  • Design and implement test plans that challenge and verify autonomous systems across simulated mission profiles.
  • Analyze test data to validate performance, identify improvements, and iteratively refine autonomy algorithms and behaviors.
  • Collaborate with software engineers, hardware engineers, product managers, and other teams to define test requirements and align them with system capabilities and mission objectives.
  • Manage end-to-end testing by shaping program requirements, designing test plans, leading test execution, analyzing data, and delivering clear reports to cross-functional and program teams.
  • Execute and analyze simulations that replicate real-world scenarios, accelerate testing, optimize system performance, and inform stakeholders about development and deployment implications.
  • Coordinate with private and government test ranges to test and evaluate systems and software.

Benefits

  • Highly competitive equity grants are included in the majority of full-time offers as part of total compensation.
  • Top-tier benefits for full-time employees, described as a comprehensive, competitive package available at little to no cost to employees.
