About The Position

The Test and Evaluation team at Anduril develops testing approaches to ensure products meet high standards of performance and reliability, with a focus on mission autonomy systems. The Flight Test Engineer will help test, refine, and validate autonomous systems, including Fury, Anduril’s Group 5 UAS, supporting users conducting complex missions with precision and efficiency. The role covers end-to-end test management: shaping program requirements, designing and executing test plans, analyzing test and simulation data, and delivering reports to cross-functional and program teams. The engineer will work with software engineers, hardware engineers, product managers, and private and government test ranges to evaluate systems and software. The position requires flexible hours and travel to testing locations as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, robotics, or a related technical field from an accredited institution, or equivalent experience in autonomous systems testing.
  • At least 3 years of flight-testing experience, with a strong emphasis on autonomous or remotely piloted systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute test plans for complex systems within aggressive timelines.
  • Familiarity with mission-autonomy principles, unmanned systems, and integrating multiple assets into operational frameworks.
  • Strong analytical skills, including interpreting test data, diagnosing system behaviors, and recommending actionable improvements.
  • Experience working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to achieve project milestones and deliverables.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to articulate technical challenges and solutions to diverse audiences.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours and travel to testing locations as required.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Top Secret-level security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Direct experience developing, testing, and deploying mission-autonomy systems in a defense or aerospace context.
  • Hands-on experience with simulation environments and tools for testing autonomous systems.
  • Familiarity with software development practices and programming languages used in autonomy and robotics, such as Python, C++, and ROS.
  • Knowledge of current industry and military standards for unmanned aerial systems and their operation within national airspace.

Responsibilities

  • Advance testing methodologies for mission autonomy systems to ensure reliable performance in complex operational scenarios.
  • Design and implement test plans that challenge and verify autonomous-system capabilities across simulated mission profiles.
  • Analyze test data to validate performance, diagnose system behavior, identify improvement areas, and inform refinement of autonomy algorithms and behaviors.
  • Collaborate with software engineers, hardware engineers, product managers, and other cross-functional teams to define test requirements and align them with system capabilities and mission objectives.
  • Manage end-to-end testing by shaping program requirements, designing comprehensive test plans, leading execution, analyzing data, and delivering reports to cross-functional and program teams.
  • Execute and analyze simulations that replicate real-world scenarios, accelerate testing cycles, optimize system performance, and inform stakeholders about development and deployment implications.
  • Coordinate with private and government test ranges to test and evaluate systems and software.

Benefits

  • Highly competitive equity grants are included in the majority of full-time offers and are considered part of total compensation.
  • Competitive benefits package available at little to no cost to employees; specific benefits are not itemized in the posting.
