About The Position

The Senior Fixed Asset Accountant will manage the accounting and analysis of fixed assets throughout their full lifecycle. This role is responsible for project/job costing, asset capitalization, depreciation, transfers, improvements, disposals, reconciliations, and reporting in accordance with U.S. GAAP. The position will also serve as a key resource for asset utilization reporting, capital asset forecasting, and planning within our growing, asset-intensive organization. This role will support month-end close, audits, cost analysis, internal controls, personal property tax reporting, ad-hoc analysis, and process improvements related to fixed assets while partnering closely with Finance, Operations, and Procurement.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
3–6+ years of accounting experience with direct fixed asset accounting experience, including capitalization, depreciation, asset transfers, disposals, reconciliations, and fixed asset reporting.
Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP required.
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and all levels of the organization.

Nice To Haves

Experience with construction-in-progress and project/job costing preferred.
Experience or exposure to rental businesses where asset utilization is a key performance indicator preferred.
Experience with SOX controls, compliance, or audit support preferred.
Experience with ERP and/or fixed asset accounting systems and reporting tools, such as Infor and Power BI, preferred.
CPA track preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

Own fixed asset accounting from acquisition through disposal, including capitalization, construction-in-progress, depreciation, transfers, improvements, and retirements.
Maintain accurate fixed asset registers, rental unit schedules, and supporting documentation.
Calculate and record depreciation and amortization in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
Prepare and post journal entries related to fixed assets, including additions, disposals, depreciation, impairments, and adjustments.
Reconcile fixed asset subledgers to the general ledger and investigate discrepancies.
Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities.
Maintain documentation related to asset ownership, registrations, equipment records, and other supporting records.
Coordinate periodic fixed asset and unit cycle counts and reconcile results to unit schedules.
Prepare fixed asset reports, schedules, and analysis for management, including asset utilization reporting.
Own capital expenditure processes, including capital model reporting and forecasting future asset needs.
Present findings, analysis, and recommendations to C-suite and other executive leadership.
Support internal and external audits by preparing fixed asset schedules and supporting documentation.
Assist with internal controls and physical asset inventories.
Prepare personal property tax data to support state and local filing deadlines.
Partner with Operations, Procurement, and Finance teams to ensure accurate and timely asset accounting.
