About The Position

The Senior Financial Analyst role involves collaborating with managers, directors, and senior leadership on monthly productivity and variance remediation, as well as coordinating and completing annual operating budgets. This role is responsible for the month-end closing cycle, including reviewing financial information, journal entries, and ensuring accuracy. The position requires a foundational understanding of accounting principles and standards, along with demonstrated leadership abilities such as managing competing priorities, mentoring, and professional development. The Senior Financial Analyst must be self-directed, autonomous, yet capable of working in an interdependent role, possessing excellent critical thinking, problem-solving, and analytical skills for collaboration with managers. Attention to detail and well-documented work are essential, as is the ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with all levels of management and employees.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, healthcare administration, or related field required.
  • Three years of experience required.
  • Foundational understanding of accounting principles and standards is required.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities while meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to mentor.
  • Ability to take the initiative in own professional development.
  • Able to demonstrate use of knowledge in making forecasts based on statistical analysis.
  • Able to provide accurate, complex analysis of financial data.
  • Ability to interpret complex financial and accounting data.

Nice To Haves

  • Healthcare experience is helpful.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Management Accountant (CMA) or other professional certification is preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with managers, directors, and senior leadership on monthly productivity and remediation of variances.
  • Coordinate and complete annual operating budgets.
  • Manage the month-end closing cycle, including reviewing financial information and journal entries for accuracy.
  • Maintain and report management systems, reviewing all financial data for accuracy.
  • Maintain various departmental statistical and financial data.
  • Undertake projects such as evaluating the financial impact of new programs, formulating financial forecasts and modeling, preparing projections for new building projects, and rate analysis.
  • Serve as a project coordinator and provide support and training to team members.
  • Provide support to complex areas within Sanford Health.
  • Demonstrate leadership abilities, including managing competing priorities, meeting deadlines, mentoring, and taking initiative in professional development.
  • Make forecasts based on statistical analysis and provide accurate, complex analysis of financial data.
  • Interpret complex financial and accounting data.
  • Communicate with all levels of management and employees, both orally and in writing.
