About The Position

The Senior Financial Analyst is responsible for supporting the preparation, analysis, and delivery of accurate and timely financial statements and related disclosures for Leon’s retail operations. This role ensures compliance with applicable accounting standards (IFRS), supports audit requirements, and contributes to the continuous improvement of financial reporting processes and internal controls. As a key member of the Finance team, the Senior Financial Analyst partners closely with the Controller, FP&A, and operational leaders to provide insightful financial analysis, maintain data integrity, and support business decision-making in a fast-paced, multi-location retail environment.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of financial reporting standards (IFRS and/or ASPE).
  • Solid understanding of general accounting principles, consolidations, and financial statement preparation.
  • Experience with audit processes and internal controls frameworks.
  • Advanced analytical skills with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain financial results clearly.
  • Proven leadership and team management capabilities.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools.
  • Experience with ERP systems (e.g., Oracle or similar).
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced retail environment.
  • High level of integrity, professionalism, and accountability.
  • 3-5 years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Experience supporting month-end close, financial reporting processes and supporting audits.
  • ERP system experience (Oracle or similar) required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a retail, multi-location, or distribution environment preferred.
  • CPA designation (or equivalent) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and supporting schedules.
  • Execute key components of the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Prepare and post journal entries and perform account reconciliations.
  • Ensure adherence to applicable accounting standards (IFRS).
  • Support internal and external audit processes, including preparation of audit schedules and responding to auditor requests.
  • Assist in ensuring compliance with regulatory, tax, and financial reporting requirements.
  • Maintain and enhance documentation supporting financial reporting processes and controls.
  • Manage financial consolidations, including intercompany transactions and eliminations where applicable.
  • Research and apply technical accounting guidance for complex transactions.
  • Support the implementation of new accounting standards and policies.
  • Support the maintenance and enhancement of internal controls over financial reporting.
  • Identify process improvement opportunities to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.
  • Support automation initiatives and optimization of ERP and reporting systems.
  • Provide analysis of financial results, including variance analysis and key performance indicators.
  • Partner with FP&A to ensure alignment between financial reporting and forecasting.
  • Support management reporting and preparation of materials for senior leadership.
  • Analyze trends and KPIs to support strategic decision-making.
