About The Position

The City of Everett is hiring an appointive Senior Financial Analyst in its Public Works Department. The department plans, designs, constructs, operates, and maintains the City’s water, sewer, drainage, and streets systems, and has more than 300 staff members across six divisions. Under the direction of a department director or designee, the Senior Financial Analyst evaluates complex financial information, prepares reports identifying trends, recommends actions to management, and provides professional counsel in response to inquiries. Work is performed under broad supervision, with regular opportunities for independent judgment and recommendations. Work is reviewed through conferences, reports, and periodic audits; the position may include supervision of lower-level accounting support staff. The incumbent performs professional accounting, finance, budget, and statistical analysis; serves as a technical resource and subject-matter expert; reviews and analyzes transactions and financial data; supports City budgets and financial statements; and advises City staff on financial and accounting matters. Duties may vary by assignment. The City describes its work as personally rewarding and emphasizes employee professional growth, work-life balance, and an inclusive and welcoming workplace. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, retirement, and basic life insurance plans, as well as accrued vacation, sick leave, and holidays.
